Wouldn't be much fun to buy a vehicle and not want to mod anything on it. So I look at that cheese grater on the front of the TRDs as an opportunity to You-ify my truck. I'm coming from the world of MINI Coopers where modding is a religion so yeah........

Toyota really cheaped out on the rear bumper. Really, plastic instead of chrome?

Plastic bumper covers are pretty much standard for all manufacturers these days, even luxury and premium car makers. They give more and let the reinforcement bar and absorbers underneath do their jobs.

Pimp out your truck to some fab places. They may be interested in creating new products for the 2016s.
    Best of luck.

oh yeah, the composite bed isn't all that bad. Won't rust. Throw a mat on it and you are good to go.

Check out my build thread (Beginning of Money Pit)
My 2 Biggest pet peeve about my 3rd Gen trd offroad 4x4 are...
1.The factory wheels should have been 16x8, not 16 by 7. They made great looking wheels that have to be taken off if I want 285s.
    2. My trd offroad does not have a sunglasses holder. What type of shit is this toyota? I'd gladly give up the go pro mount for this.

That's it. Everyone is complaining about the trans, and I'm over here getting the same city mpg that my 2nd Gen got highway.downhill. in the summer.

I have the sport and it does have auto headlights. I don't have any tech package either. The truck comes with a 30 second automatic headlight setting. Have you tried pressing the lock button twice on your fob after exiting? That should turn the lights off. You can also adjust the time setting on the auto off feature in the settings. Let me know if this works. I had another dude complaining of the same issue and he just hadn't pressed the button twice in a row.

Actual pet peeve… no "oh shit handle" on the driver side of the Sport 4X4. No idea why they took that off, as I've seen it on older models.

A couple rolls of non skid would do the trick in the bed also. Probably find it cheaper elsewhere.

AGREED! I was told it was a site line issue.....

im really happy with the truck, could do without the chrome Toyota symbol on the steering wheel and around the vents....but by no means is that show stopper.

The Toyota emblems look better than the gold bow-ties on the colorado I traded in.

Highly recommend the Husky Liners. The coverage in comparison to Toyota All Weather mats is no comparison. Wish the Husky's went a little higher next to the transmission hump in the middle. Was going to wait on the exact fit in rubber, but Husky said other than tread pattern and material, the coverage was exactly the same. The fit of the weatherbeaters is excellent. Had my 1st set of Husky's for 13 years in my other Tacoma...will last and look good for a long time.

Maybe someone can make a sunglass holder that fits on the GoPro mount.

It's not one or the other, it's both. Chrome is a coating/finish, not what the bumpers made of. It's plastic with a chrome coating.

I would buy one... In fact, I would also buy a GoPro based mount for a radar detector... Anyone have a connection to GoPro - they could create an entire line of holders for us!

Bought the rubber Toyota mat for the bed, problem remedied. Nothing slides on that mat. Highly recommend the mat.
Took a 6 hour trip, mostly highway...averaged 19-20 mpg. Still under 2k miles...see how it breaks in.
I will be replacing the so called bumpers with real world protection and sliders down the side.
Overall, very happy with the truck thus far, just fix the little things and make it mine.

    1. Double cab rear seats won't go down without taking out headrest.
    2. No foot area light.
    3. Rear bumper doesn't stick out far enough. My 1st gen you can drop the tailgate and still have space for a beer to put on the bumper.
    4. No power rear window (like the tundra).
    5. Hood vibration/cabin noise (but I'm sure you already heard about that).
    6. Hood is too long. Excessive gap under the hood between grill and radiator.

Mudflaps, waiting on the aftermarket for some good quality effective ones. My 2002 had factory mudflaps...worked and looked great. I want bolt on's, no extra holes.
No hood vibration on mine. Way quieter than my 1st generation. Headrests in the rear totally block the rear window and have to be taken off to lower the seats. Believe that the headrests are a safety requirement. Just take them off when no one is riding back there. Mostly have the seat down. Bought a rubber backed outdoor carpet cut to size, works great so the pastic doesn't get all scratched up. Great for hauling my Hunting gear etc.

Good thing none of your gripes have anything to do with actually using the truck for "truck stuff" like hauling stuff, towing, using the bed for dirty dogs, dirt bikes, hauling kayaks. Sounds like you would have been better with a Lexus Sedan instead of an actual truck.
