How much weight can these support if I wanted to use a rtt for two or three people on the cab rack

They can support a RTT with 2-3 people just fine. I personally wouldn't carry a similar load down a trail but stationary it will be fine. While moving, the weight of just the tent is fine.

Honestly, right now I just don't have the time to do more new models. Current orders are using up my time as is and I have 3-4 other models that are ahead of the 1st gen double cab that I need to finish up. The time and money it takes to prototype and build a new rack has to be worth the return. The 1st gen xtra cab rack has been available for 6+ months and I have sold 1 in addition to the one I built for the local truck.

Drilling the roof turns off most people from wanting the rack and a clamp system that is clean and functional makes cost of the rack too high for most people. It's not worth it to them to spend $800 on a rack for a 15 year old truck.

Well that's a bummer, but it's understandable! Thanks for finally replying and explaining. I've already bought the light bar and a few other things for the rack so I'm still prepared if the time ever comes and am still willing to drill holes! There's just no one else that makes a more aesthetically pleasing lower profile rack so it worth it to me.

Im looking for a cabrac if anyone feels the need to get rid of theirs. I have the toprac already and if I could get a sweet deal on a cabrac I would be all over it.

Hey @zscott, has anyone bought a caprac for a first gen yet? I just picked up a topper and I'm scheming.

Check out rick_stowe on instagram. He goes on trips with @msoverland and picked up a toprac from me after he won a RTT at Overland expo east. As far as I know it has worked out really well for him.

Got my rack installed Saturday. Looks great and feels very solid. Now for a week of rain to test my work.

Other than my camper top and vent visors the out side of my truck is bone stock and I do notice some wind noise around 40 mph. It isn't bad and with the light bar it is less than I expected. I have tested up to 80 mph and I don't noticed it getting any louder.

Is it normal to have to tweak the holes to get the visor in the lowest position?

Looks, good. The holes definitely shouldn't be mis aligned there though. Every once in awhile I get some small variances that make the slots tighter but usually not that far off.

When did you get your rack? Is that the lowest hole down?

I did that with some of mine before and it worked well. If you take them off the truck you can use a peice of cardboard and punch a bunch of holes through it with a screwdriver and then put the bolts in those holes to hold them in place while you paint.

Then to reinstall them cover your torx bit with a plastic bag to protect the paint.

Hmmm, I will have to check into it. That file hasn't been updated for a long time so I am not sure what would have caused the hole to be off like that.
