Im thinking about installing a 1" top spacer to my 885/5100s set at 0. when i first installed them i got a full 3" of lift and had zero rubbing ussues with my 285 70 17s on a 17x9 0 offset, im also running a 1.25" wheel spacer in the front. if the truck sat 1" higher the tires would clear without any issues.

I do have a set of total chaos uppers im installing when I add the spacer

does anyone see any problems with this? i currently sit at 23" from hub to fender

.... if the tires are rubbing now they will still rub when you flex the suspenion that one inch...... a 1 inch top plate spacer on top of the 3 in lift you already have would yeild 5in total.... thats WAY WAY to much.

how would 1" top plate spacer yeild 2" of lift? im not talking about compressing the spring 1" to gain the inch. after my lift settle it only yielded 2" of lift, this is why im curious about the top plate spacer

Top plate spacers basically provide lift approx double the thickness of the spacer

I did not know this, so maybe a 1/2 spacer will suffice

I still think it's a bad idea. With 4" of spring/spacer lift you'll have essentially no down travel in the suspension. Not to mention increased CV shaft wear. Unless it's a prerunner of course. But still if you want that much lift I would go down the bracket lift path. I've had a few bracket lifts on older Toyota trucks and 1st gen Tacomas and they were perfectly fine. Rode way better than if I had tried to achieve the same amount of lift otherwise too. If I were looking to put 33's or 35's on a second gen that's how I would do it.

I'm pretty sure he's saying he HAD a 3" lift but it has settled and he wants to get back to the 3" lift mark by using a small spacer.

The only concern I'd have is if it's 4wd with that much extra droop?

There's a post here somewhere showing that with the stock bump there's something like an inch and a half of up travel left on the 5100. A 1/2 inch spacer would put some of that to use and leave enough room for the bump to do its job.

OP, I think you're on the right track.

1/2in thick spacers are what you need then.... they will yeild right around 1in of lift due to the fact the shock mounts only about half way out on the lower control arm.

    - Billstein 5100's all around with OME 885 coil springs. - K&N Air Filter - HID Headlights & Fogs - Kenwood Stereo & Infinity Speakers - CB Radio, - Fog On Anytime mod - Anti Tailgate theft mod. More comming...
    Hey OP,
Did you install the 1/2" spacer? I'm in the same boat as you. 885s and 5100s at 0. I'm thinking of adding a 1/2 tophat spacer for another 1" lift. Prerunner here so no CV issue. Only concern is whether there is enough up travel in the 5100 to not top out before the bumpstop stops travel.
