    Fair tax. Flat tax.
Something that is simple. Includes everyone. And removes the 20 Thousand pages of tax law.
    Btw,
There are more people working for the IRS than the FBI and CIA combined.
    Doesn't make sence.

We tried lowering taxes on the wealthy before. Thats reganomics 101. Cutting the tax rate does not lead to an increase in wage growth, income growth, economic growth. We tried that since reagan was in office. The result? The top 20% increased in wealth and the rest of the nations wealth decreased. The last 50 years of history refutes the theory that cutting top taxes increases income for the lower and middle class. Theres nothing wrong with being rich. people hate the 1% because you can argue that they,re taking advantage of the other classes. The waltons are all billionares yet they treat their workers like shit. http://fortune.com/2013/11/12/why-wal-mart-can-afford-to-give-its-workers-a-50-raise/

I'm always amazed at the volunteer mods that poke their heads in, bitch about the thread then ask why it isn't locked. WTF?

People act as though buisness can't adapt to new regulation. That is absurd. Regulations have a purpose. I agree some are counter productive, but there is no hard evidence proving that regulations are detrimental to the economy as a whole.

Lol! You've obviously never run a business. Just adapt!

Obviously it depends on the regulation. If it says you need to have 2 rolls of toilet paper, they can adapt. If it says they must supply health care coverage for all employees, it's a serious F'n problem.

    Yes.
And the roads are falling apart. The utilities / infrastructure is collapsing. The military has been gutted and is weak...

But hey, cell phones and EBT cards for all...and all a good night.

True words. Something is screwed up.

$92.95 everyday, 7 days a week in income tax alone so far this year (more than all my other bills combined btw). Same last year & still had to hand the fed $3,947 on 4/15/15. I'll have to do the same this year.

They didn't come with guns but, we'll just say I learned (the hard way) the last time. There's no "due process" re the IRS.

Oh and even tho I pay out my social security, now they're talking "means test" to see if I'm going to need it once I reach retirement age. May as well stop maxing the 401...right?

I'm just a single cat with no college degree working shitty days in a blue collar job. And they wonder why we're angry.

Time for some natty ice & sleep...thanks for cheering me up guys.

There's an interesting disconnect with a lot of these arguments. I'm not saying yours specifically , but some will say on one side they don't understand the issue with the 1% gaining so much wealth but the lament that the shrinking middle class hurts the US. The issue isn't so much that the 1% are wealthy, it's the vast disparity. The middle class isn't shrinking because they're all becoming millionaires. It's more are slipping downward while the cost of living is rising and workers wages have not kept up with productivity. If workers wages kept up with productivity I think we'd have less issues.

I'm happy where I'm at, but I was once stuck in a dead end position that wasn't going to take me anywhere. I had to take a chance outside of my comfort zone and that fortunately paid off, not everyone can say the same. I don't think anyone working 40 hours a week should be struggling to make ends meet. Between rent, gas, insurances, utilities and an Internet connection it's easy to be barely afloat if you're making less than 15/hr.

The other issue I see coming is the huge rallies the stock market is having. It doesn't create anything and I don't see it as being sustainable. With baby boomers retiring I think the years of double digit gains are going to end pretty soon and most likely the stock market will be stuck for awhile growing about as much as inflation does.

All this and more - I'd add that it's not only the vast disparity between the 1% and the rest, it's the lack of risk. No one begrudges folks getting rich, it's the whole getting rich without taking risk that's frustrating. If you're too big to fail what risk do you have? You'll be bailed out if there's trouble. Bailed out with tax money of which I pay a disproportionate amount.

I'd also reiterate the concern of double digit gains going away. Until the industrial revolution there wasn't any kind of economic growth like what we've witnessed. This last surge is based on the internet economy. There may be some advancement that keeps the economy cooking at this pace, there may not be. Population is a big factor in economic growth and the US population is declining. One could argue that sometime in the future our immigration policy will be to allow in as many people as possible to shore up growth.
