Has anyone explored the use of an adapter than converts the 5 lug to a 6 lug?

It would let us get in on all the cheap OE take offs that the big boys have.

I am still completely stock for now. There are of good looking trucks posted above, which makes me want to mod. I haven't posted in awhile so I thought I could add some pictures from over the summer when I was running an aluminum capper from a ranger that I received for free. It was very useful for camping and fishing trips.

There are several weak-points related to spacers.. First and foremost is proper installation and torque-down, with an immediate, and periodic check on correct torquing a necessity. Too little, it has the possibility of the lugs coming off, or too much, stretch-stressing the lug shafts to crack at point of weakness in the tensile metal structure. A further potential cause of failure would be hitting up hard against a curb, again stretch-stressing the lugs to break at any existing point of weakness.

Yes - they fail. By the same token, i've read as many people who've indicated that they've used them for years without incident.

I'm still weighing the pro's and cons of a set of spacers, vs ANOTHER set of rims with low positive off-set for my own ongoing project.. firmly still sitting on the fence here.

@Clearwater Bill - I've seen those 5 to 6 Spidertrax 1.25"(?) spacer/adapters also.. two questions come to mind - what are the 6 lug rims off-set/backspacing figures .. +15 offset, stock? Is there any balance issues related to a fundamentally unbalanced piece of hardware bolted to your axle (5 to 6 lug adapter leaves part of that component heavy, somewhere in it's rotational forces upon the axle/stub and wheel assembly) that is non-correctable via wheel weights alone?

Nice Taco! The camper looks like it fits pretty good. What year ranger is that from and what did you use to attach it? Im thinking of getting one.

Thanks for the 'before' .. i've seen other photos of the stock 5-lug DC before - but your photo REALLY shows how badly those 15" rims are tucked under the additional stock wheel flares, that the other 5-lugs don't have. The stock access-cab/single cabs without flares, are bad enough in that department already. Somebody in Toyota Corporate really wasn't doing their job in terms of the base level parts-bucket mix and match.

Your choice of rims/tires takes it from a truck that had acquired a Dwarfism disorder from the waist down, to a total win-win with just the right rims. tires and attitude. Good job.. i'm impressed.

Y'all are also making my credit card a little more uncomfortable with similar such posts.. keep 'em coming.

Thanks man. I also added the fog lights myself. I may add if anyone gets these fog lights be aware to trim your switch down just a tad I scraped the edges with my pocket knife to make sure it fit the hole without sticking

It has the fat bob spacer kit in front and long leaf in back with road master helper spring kit . but sits low in back cause of topper, rack (i made) the rack has 4 solar panels in it , 150lbs of stuff in bed so im adding a second spring the short one. To see if it will push it up to level. Slightly bull dogging. Wheels are focal X 16" (with my stickers),tires are 235/70/16, re geared to 4.56 with arb locker. put the locker compressor in one of the bed cubbys . and use a hilux rear diff switch so it looks stock i liked the hilux switch better then the taco switch cause it has a little drive train picture. ,no engine mods just that afe filter, morimoto fog lights, with stock taco fog light switch, bunch of inside stuff . The mud flap in front is for a newer rav 4. the tires fling stones and scratch side of truck my road is dirt so tires pick up stones daily . i plan on some flares. on those you have on your 2door the bushwacked. did you have to drill holes for all the bolts or are they just for show. Thanks for the likes.

Found some mud the other day and had a little bit of fun with traction control off. My budget hasn't allowed me to lift it yet, but in about a week I'll have a front 3 inch spacer on it that I found on Amazon. I plan on coil overs within the new year.

@B ill y where did you get the truck re-geared at? Good price? Notice a big difference? I'm around the same area. Looking to have it done. Also, how do you like the fat bobs kit? Good lookin truck!
