yeah saw that..looking for something more custom fit like the huskys, rokblokz or rally's. Already tossed the husky idea as someone said they would still rub with those bulges. I'll be keeping my oem rears, so kinda want to match them better looking.

So universals i'll have to drill my own holes? Seems like most of these still stick out at that point where i'm rubbing except for the wide rokblokz but you're right, I don't want to spend that much on those. I might just try to shave down that spot or cut that part out on my oem flaps..

Thanks to all that put flaps on, sure does make it easier on vehicles behind.

RokBlokz are nice because they include all the mounting hardware and spacers where needed, had a set on the 2012. Pricey though. And I see that gap the guy had to custom cover, that's goofy RokBlokz left that gap.

I've used CRE universal flexible flaps on two trucks, bought them because they came in 12"x24" size.

I'm curious why you guys with universals aren't using the inside mount that the OEM's have. Fab a spacer, I repurpose the rubber grommets from shock absorbers.

With the 9x15 Plasticolors, I'm not sure it reaches that inside mount. I have the 11x19's and looks like it might work on the back but the fronts are closer to the edge. Suppose you could fab up a little metal bracket or something that kicks over and screw onto it.

Yeah I see that, that's why I bought the CRE 12x24's. They had a high enough shoulder with the 'L' shape of the flaps to use the inside mount. Had to cut off a lot of the L's neck but it worked.

I guess I am one of the few who prefer the aesthetics of the Tacoma without the mudguards. I am running stock Firestones on a Sport, no gravel or off-roading. Few times a year with sand on the road I will trust the plastic bits, rock guard and clear coat to do it's intended job. Should get some good comments on this post! :crapstorm:

I agree about the looks. I don't off road at all and already have a rock chip on my driver side door. When right through the thicker layer of whatever it is at the bottom of the door. I hate the look of flaps but had to put them on

UberDingu, I am anal about my vehicles and your reason is what might sway me. But have you ever looked at the trucks with mudguards when dirty? Throw back on the mud is not much further back, you are never fully protected from slinging rocks, IMO.

Went quail hunting down near Patagonia, AZ yesterday very close to Mexican border (~8mi or so). Some pretty rough "ranch roads". There were a few steep and jagged rocky inclines I used 4-high to climb up and I cringed a bit thinking those weak OEM tires might blow at any time...

On topic the universal plasticolor mudflaps did their job. At one point about 2 inches layer of mud was stuck to the inside of them. There were some nasty mud holes we drove through to get to the back country where we hunted so I was curious how they would do. In hindsight should have taken some more pics of the mud caked on the mudflaps before I kicked them clean. Ultimately really happy with how they performed. Everybody had a blast especially the dogs. The guys who rode in my truck had nothing but compliments on the fit finish and quality of ride offroad.

Got the OEM mudflats delivered yesterday. Took exactly a week from when I placed the order, Toyota of Dallas, $63.60 plus shipping, installed all 4 in under 20 minutes.

I ordered the same ones but they have yet to arrive. Can't wait to get them on the truck. Did yours include all the mounting hardware with them?

    Thanks

It contained a bag of 4 screws. You use the existing screws that are in the fenders and then add one of the included screws to each of the mud flaps.

Thanks for all the pictures and information.

I'll be going with the 11x19 plasticolor universal fits. We went wheeling today and I cringed at the 25mph rocks hitting the paint, especially on the front
