So admitted. The Jeep has a 12 month old suspension on it however. Not that the suspension alone will change the comparison. I have driven the new body style however. I think my '02 rides better on the highway than the '15 I rented.

As far as the poll, I had to abstain. If there had been an option for a brand new Tacoma and an old Jeep, I'd vote for that. I'd never vote for a "crappy" Jeep; there's no such thing. Ok, yeah, there are some crappy old Jeeps out there, but only because the owners don't care for them.

Fair enough - poor wording on my part. I just meant it'll probably be old and have some issues that I'll have to correct. I have owned a lot of Jeeps, and love working on them, so that's no issue for me.

I have a Toyota ''Jeep,'' does that count?2s7wec3_75fd42f1f298e4be97ffb743ce689c5fd2012d6d.jpg[/IMG]

And they ride incredibly well on the road. The Taco [2015] feels like a buckboard compared to it.

OP, I say you go with option A as well.

I am a Jeep guy also, and I have owned 9 since I've been in the Corps (4 CJ's, 2 TJ's, 1 XJ, and 2 WJ's). Man do I miss my last CJ...sold it before PCSing to Okinawa and have regretted it ever since. Like you, I never really had any major issues with any of my Jeeps.

I rotated back from Oki last summer, and I looked at the Taco and the JKU for my vehicle choice (I had no vehicles in storage). After driving both, I went with the Taco and haven't regretted my decision. I just didn't like the ride/layout of the newer Jeeps, and the Taco simply fit my needs/wants better. The Tacoma gave me more practicality for my situation, and I love finally having one in my garage. I'm actually considering trading my current 14 in on a 16, but that is a whole other topic...:spy: I will eventually be getting another Jeep for "fun" in the near future, but I will likely do what you are thinking and get a cheaper YJ or even a TJ to tinker with. Ultimately, I would love an FJ40 or even another CJ, but it is damn ridiculous what folks want for them these days.

Good luck and have fun with whatever you decide!

    Semper fi, brother!

Agreed that the old CJs / FJ40s that are in serviceable condition for some reason are always way overpriced. I'll likely end up with a YJ, or MAYBE a late-90s TJ. The good thing is that I can take my time and wait for the right one. I just bought a house with a 2-car and am going to be 'stationary' for some time, so I may actually get to keep a project going without having to worry about PCSing in a year or two all the time - you know how that is!

Fine; since you're being a dick about it, I'll vote. But it's with the caveat above that there are no crappy Jeeps in the hands of owners that give a shit.

I'm not really a Jeep guy and I'm not into telling folks how to spend their money. I want something like this though.

Had a 2009 reg cab 4x4 with full OME lift and a leer cap. It was less comfortable than my 2015 JK that has a frankenlift with rock krawler/fox/jks/teraflex parts and it rides better than my taco did and the seat is more comfortable. I had the bench in there though.. I miss the space of the bed for convenience and collecting firewood. The jeep is like a race care compared to the 4cyl tacoma. There is no comparison wheeling, jeep is much better, all that travel up front over the OME no travel constantly clunking stuff. If i could build a 2014 reg cab auto taco with sas and v6 swap i would not look back, but thats not gonna happen for me. So far my 2015 jeep has had and axle shaft replaced under warranty along wih both front axle seals, no hassles from jeep dealer about being lifted, am still running 255/85/16 and loving them.

Semper Fi! I do know how it is...I'll be trying to become "stationary" in VA here in a few years, i.e. retirement! That's when I will start my next project as well.

Oh man, if Jeep comes out with a pickup in 2018 like they say they are going to, and it's based off of a Wrangler platform, then I'm done, sir, done.
