I can't send messages either with the off hook button / entune. I can just trigger siri on the phone and it works through the truck that way. Still a pain that i have to grab the phone to do it, which is technically illegal where I am at, but it's better then nothing.

Same thing here in Texas. It sucks because it's a cool option that we can't use. I hope Apple fixes that!!

Not sure if it's an Apple issue as much as an Entune issue but I agree it needs to be addressed.

You can receive messages thru entune/Apple....but because of liability, you cannot send...just like here it's against the law to text and drive. I did figure out what I was doing wrong and now receive text again thru my entune and press play and it is read to me over the speakers...happier now! image.jpg

The best is when you have an emoji in the sent text and it doesn't read any part of it.

I'm so glad I live in the sticks among people that can't afford this kind of stuff but I'm sure you all pull into parking lots to play with your massaging systems.

What I was doing wrong: I had blue tooth on, but once your phone is paired with the truck , you need to go into " Toyota Tacoma " tap the little blue info circle at the end,,, then turn on notifications and sync contacts....hope this helps.image.jpg

Thanks for the response. I did that already. I thought maybe it was something else.

I'm glad there was a thread on this- felt like I was taking crazy pills trying to get it to work.

I'm about 50/50 on it if it will notify me of a text and about 1/10 getting it to read. I've found if I turn my phone off and once in my truck it will work for a little while.

I'm hoping it's an entune issue they can fix with an update- as it is it's pretty much useless but it's awesome whe it works

iPhone 6, latest update, Verizon and the JBL setup

Someone posted a good fix in another thread. If you are having issues with getting your messages to work get rid of your "Quick Dial" contacts. For some reason having quick dial numbers on your home screen breaks the messages app. Also, if you want to activate siri to send a message you don't have to reach for your phone, just press and hold the phone "pick up" button on the steering controls.

Just wanted to chime in for android users. I have an LG G3 that was originally running kitkat. I was delaying updating to lollipop due to some known changes/bugs in the newer OS that I wasn't eager to deal with. Was hoping T-mobile would push another update later so I could just skip 5.0 entirely. I was also having messaging app issues... along with a myriad of other strange hickups with the entune system.

Well, as fate would have it, I recently updated a large number of apps on my phone at the same time, and suddenly my G3 would no longer stay connected to the head unit. It would repeatedly disconnect and reconnect to the rhythm of about once per second. I tried doing a factory reset and that didn't solve the problem. Discovered that if I dumped my phone's Bluetooth cache/data and reset, it would remain connected, but only until I turned the truck or Bluetooth off. Had friends use their iphones to connect, and they had no connectivity issues at all. Frustrated and out of options, I just went ahead and updated to lollipop. Figured it couldn't hurt anything to try before I went out bought a new phone.

Sure enough, updating to lollipop fixed my connection issues, and SUDDENLY my messaging app loads every time without fail. If you're running an older version of android and running into problems, try updating the OS. Worth a shot.

Found that if I turn my phone off, then back on, once my truck is up and running it works great... if I don't do that, it's hit or miss if it'll display the message- and no chance of it reading the message

I removed quick contacts from the home screen, do you have to remove them completely as quick contacts?

good question, not sure. I did remove the individual contacts completely though, then changed that section of my homescreen to a clock.

Just tested with switching to clock, and it didn't do any good. How do you remove the contacts? I tried while driving so didn't get to far into it yet- do you know off hand?
