That's one thing that gives drones (or owners) a bad name. Imagine what would have happened if it would have gone through his windshield (which he doesn't have)?

I 100% understand what you're saying, but in this particular incident, it appears that there are no spectators right at a main jump, and the pilot is parked on the course, meaning it was likely a team member of the driver, going for a "cool shot". I'm sure that the driver was aware of it. with a full flame suit, and full face helmet (visor down), a little phantom isn't going to do much damage to the guy. phantom probably has less mass than some of the dirt boulders that those guys get hit in the face with, in actual races.

but like I said, I get your point. if this was during a race, or not on a closed course, this would be a very big deal.

I looked at the professional & think the Advance would work great. I don't have anything to viee it in 4k yet so no benefit. Price is good with 2 batteries & memory card

Got the drone registered with FAA today. I'm legal with tail numbers and card.

I saw that on base they were smart and put up a sign about registering. But in Toys R Us there was nothing and I saw lots of people looking at qualified drones.

Makes me wonder how many people won't be aware of having to register. Are they just going to randomly check people's quads?

Dunno.. Probably not as many people know about it as they should. Mine's registered with the tail numbers already on and the card in the case.

Just finished registering. Scarily, it took less than 120 seconds, and it didn't ask how many copters. This registration seems tied to the operator and not the quadcopter.

Yup... It doesn't matter how many you have. You just have to have the tail number on each of your copters and keep the registration cards with each drone you own.

Bought a portable labeler and labeled my Tail Numbers on the side arms of the copter.

    IMG_0808_zpsizpsrgsk_ae10e8200e2dec4f50dc62a80d99fc7a4ead7954.jpg

I then labeled each battery in sequence of use

    IMG_0807_zpsfoujicv4_78a437045a43cdd95b11f0f1e6bf1c0bb9592cfc.jpg

    IMG_0810_zpsf7ihsqe4_66f691c22fd8b110925c08d4850594ce70a78490.jpg

Then labeled the controller for ease of use for just glancing down for a quick glance to be orientated correctly

New battery gives approx a extra 5 mins of flight time. I'll be ordering another soon. Also got the Multi Charging Hub to charge the batteries without having to switch between batteries.

As of right now I can get a solid 30-35 mins of flight time

New firmware update for the batteries came out yesterday. Something about cold weather flying if I read it correctly. Firmware updated. Now... Just have to spend another $400 for two extra TB48 batteries and I'll be finished (until I decide to upgrade to the X5 camera).

Quick video I made last night during rush hour traffic. Just so you know I was hovering in the large patch of woods behind my house in case of a malfunction so it wouldn't drop where it didn't need to drop. 360'. You can see approx 30 miles of the freeway and toward the end of the video is the I30-430 interchange where traffic is the worst. I should have messed with the ISO setting as this is just the raw footage.

Your "yaw" and "turn" labels are incorrect if you're in mode 2

Ummm... nope. It's in mode 2. Left stick controls ascend / descend when pushed up or down. Left stick controls rotation depending on which way the stick is moved. Left for counter clock wise (left turn) Right for clock wise (right turn). Right stick controls forward movement (if pushed forward) reverse (if pushed backward). Right stick controls yaw / pitch (side to side movement). Move right stick left and the aircraft yaws / pitches left. Move right stick right and it yaws / pitches right.

At least the way I label it makes sense to me as to what the aircraft is going to do.

Just for clarification, the directions are labeled correctly, but "yaw" means left and right turn similar to a car. The stick on the left is the one that controls the yaw, the stick on the right should control left and right "lean", kind of like strafing or side stepping in a video game.
It might not hurt to make some minor adjustments on the stickers. That way it in the future you would have the correct naming if it ever comes up.
Also, practice practice practice! You want to be confident enough and have the " muscle memory" to be able to correct the flight with out having to look at labels. You won't always have time to double check your controls!
I highly recommend to snag an el cheapo micro quad to practice with and get proficient with. Banggood.com has quite a few cheap ones that are particularly good for indoor flight.
