Air Horns

I am looking to install an air horn on my '97. I don't want to necessarily have one mounted that is visible but I'd like to beef up the horn sound, not necessarily a particular reason, just figured it be something to make my truck unique.

So if anyone has some pictures and/or brands that they have used that will work. Please post some pictures of you have them too. Thanks all.

That's perfect. I'm about to pull the trigger but I read one review that said the individual had trouble with the reliability of the horn. Water and mud easily got in it and ruined the sound. Do you have the on your truck and if so have you had any problems with it?

 

Keep electronics out of mud and water.

Not sure if reviewer is a complete moron or not, but people find fault for anything other than themselves.

 

I like my air horns. However, the original horns on my '40 Chrysler are louder.

 

Keep it up high, like where the horns are now and no problem. some of the reviews are fake. they are simple install, just tap into a wire for the horn and ground it to use the factory horn button. I see a lot of these on motorcycles where they are completely exposed and they seem to work fine.

 

I run a horn blasters train horn kit... Usually around christmas/new years they do a special where you can email them a price and if they think its fair you can get it for that price. got mine for pretty cheap. train horns might be a little over kill but I love mine

 

I have been driving since 1962 and I'll bet the number of times I have blown the horn I could count on one hand!

 

Thanks for all the assistance everyone. I'm leaning towards the compact "big bad max" horn. I like the price and also the ease of install.

Are those mounted under your bed? That's a prime spot I bed, does much stuff get into them?

 

True, but image for those times when you do need a nice loud one! Plus I drive in the Ann Arbor area for my internship with Toyota and those drivers are insane so I could use a good horn. Haha

 

Nothing gets in them, they're pointed slightly downward so if water does get in it just drains out. If I go mudding or anything I just blow them once to make sure everything is out lol

 

they sell the at harbor freight for about 40 bucks.

 

I went with the wolo big bad max air 619. Once I get it and install I'll try to post my opinion on it. If anyone come across this thread and has interest in it later. Thanks again for all the leads. I ended up getting it for $39.70 with free shipping off Amazon.
