Definately unrelated but avatar made so much money and it was prolly one of the worst movies ive ever seen good thing i didnt go watch it in theater. I mean come on someone pointed out it was the fast and furious plot in an alien movie.. so ticket sales dont really define a movie it all about marketing...

I'm the biggest Star Wars fan I know. That's why I dislike it so much. Call me a nerd but Ive read all the books and had major expectations for this movie (more so than episode 1 as the books didn't really cover the prequels). Its obvious Disney hasn't read the books and I feel like I Star Wars was sold as a cheap advertising gig rather than an honest attempt to recreate the legacy of the original three.

It was neither. Avatar was Dances With Wolves except aliens instead of indians.

I haven't touched anything except the movies and a few video games ha. I do agree that StarWars has now become a sell out because of so much stuff that just adds "StarWars" to anything and it'll sell a shit ton

Did anyone else find it odd that Kylo continuously kept punching his wound rather than the usual 'place pressure over wound for relief'?

Idk just a weird action on his part i guess.

I saw the movie this morning and I liked it. After processing what I watched I think Fin and Rey were padawan that were hidden before Ren got to them. I wasn't surprised that Han was killed off and I have a feeling that Leia will die from sadness because she lost Han and her son. It was cool that she was in the movie but with no dialogue for her then why have her in it. I also plan on seeing it maybe two more times in the theatre to see the things I missed the first time.

I did question that when seeing it but then just attributed his actions to his way of overcoming the pain....or something...

Kylie Ren is childlike and immature, it's almost as if he is going through puberty at his age. I read this about him hitting himself.

Yea I interpreted punching the wound as a way to keep the pain going and keep his dark power up. Pain leads to hate or something something. Basically keep the adrenaline rush going and own face.

He was a very good villain but they exposed way too much of him much too quickly. Why did he have to take off his helmet? The temper Tantrums should have been exposed at the very end of the movie as a transition into the next.

Don't get me wrong, I see exactly where they are going with his character and like it, but damn, you don't have to dump it all out like a bucket of rocks. They could have definitely built up his reputation as a no nonsense replacement for Darth Vader, hinting to his real self. The second movie should have been the when he takes his helmet off and revealed his petulant side as they built up more the conflict (and history) between him and Han.

Basically, when Han finally confronts him, it should have been much anticipated and with the outcome very unexpected. The shock of Han dying and Ren finally resolving his conflict and completing his transformation to the dark side should have been the climax of Episode VIII, not a hurried and hacked plot line in Episode VII.

I understand Harrison Ford wasn't interested in two movies but come on; I'm sure if Disney wanted to do this right, they have deep enough pockets to convince even Ford.

To the point that Rey may be Luke's daughter, did anyone else notice the X-wing pilot doll in her "house"?
    Another clue??

I haven't read through this entire thread but I was pleased with the flick. Def. a lot of service paid to longtime fans and enough newness for younger peeps. My 4yo kid figured out the familial or about 40 minutes in. I too, think Rey is Luke's daughter, based on the intro to Luke's light saber and R2's resuscitation.

I think episode VIII will be like the Godfather II: lots of long flashbacks to fill in the gaps between VI and VII. Probably to split up the simultaneous training sequences for Ren and Rey as they fear up for a cliffhanger ending and a redemption story in IX. We'll also find out who Rey's mom is and she'll show up in IX too.

Those plot holes aren't really plot holes. So many of them can be easily answered.

Come on look at 18. Why did Luke go into hiding? He went into exile after failing to train Kylo. The same as how Yoda went into exile after not defeating Darth Sidious

Saw it Sunday morning, arrived at 9 am and got into the 10:30 am 3-D showing as the 9:30 and 10:00 normal showings were full. Theatre was empty but filled completely.

The biggest positive surprise was the 3-D experience. What a big improvement since the last time we tried it (The Green Hornet). The 3-D glasses fit comfortably over our regular glasses and the show looked normal as well as the previews in 3-D. The 3-D action was good and not ridiculous at all... Nothing looked like it was going to hit you in the seats, it just looked like the screen was deep with things flying midway back and the stars were further back. I was impressed and won't hesitate seeing 3-D again thinking it was a gimmick (like on Green Hornet).

It is a new deal... a new trilogy for a new generation. I grew into adulthood with IV, V, VI (1977+) a year out of high school. Then when I, II, III came out, well it was silly and for our kids... still neat sci-fi and part of the story. Now, that nearly 40 years has passed since SW IV, I am watching SW VII as a grandfather! I liked the movie but feel it best if not trying to make too many connections with the IV, V, VI series. Glad they gave Han, Chewie, and Carrie Fishers talking rolls... but the WHOLE MOVIE was all about LUKE... finding Luke, getting to Luke, and seeing Luke... and he doesn't have ONE LINE in the whole movie.!!!

So, are they filming SW VIII before Luke dies or changes his contract... FAST! What happened to Luke after he left the teddie bear people in SW VI? Who did he shag to make Rey (no doubt she is his daughter). Build up the audience of VIII, that will be the bigger movie!

Of course to de-tox from Star Wars, came home and watched the new JJ Abrams Star Trek-I with Chirs Pine... Real characters you can connect with and good acting on them all.

So you're saying that Luke went into hiding after failing to train a petulant student? Why not just give him the smackdown? Sounds pretty lame to me to think a Jedi Master couldn't take care of the problem of a Sith Acolyte (spelling) like Kylo. Only thing that pops in my mind is that he wouldn't deal with him out of respect for Han and Leia, or because he feared something about Snoke.
