p2442 Limp Mode Air Injection Pump

I had CEL and Trac Off light which sent my truck into limp mode.

I have a 2012 Tacoma. just shy of 60k miles. Has anyone thrown a p2442 code and had it be covered under warranty???

I guess its covered in California up to 80k miles, but what about in other states? This is ridiculous.

 

I believe this is the same error that happened on my 2010 Tundra. It was covered under warranty. It wasn't a TSB when it happened but Toyota knew about it.

My 2012 Tacoma is just 17k ( run home-school) but have the P2442 and P2440 code come up and in the Limp mode now. Dealer just ordered the part and will be here next week. He said my Taco is over 3yrs and will not warranty and the cost around $1000.

I would check with your dealer. Mine was replaced last year (2014) on my 2010 Tundra. At the dealership.

It is an emission system part. Should be covered.

It's used by manufacturers to relay known issues with vehicles to the dealerships for warranty purposes (and overall knowledge base).

 

right. we know its covered in Tundras. The issue is that it isn't covered in Tacomas. Which is B.S.!

Some are saying its only covered in California. You are from Oregon too? Where did you take yours to? Mine is at Tonkin Toyota.

It happened to me on my 2012. Mine was covered under warranty.

 

Can you provide more info regarding your warranty coverage? What specific coverage was it covered under? Was it an emission coverage? A power train coverage? As many details as you have would be great, including the name of the dealership and a possible contact person or phone number?

I'll try digging up the invoice. The dealership is Autonation Toyota here in Houston, TX.

 

You rock! I appreciate it. Sad thing is, different states have different stupid warranty guidelines.

 

Also, do you recall how many miles your veh had on it at the time of the repairs? this could also be why one is covered and one isn't. My beef is that this is a known issue. Toyota should do better!

Also, did you have to dig around and haggle them to get it covered, or did they just fix it, no questions asked as part of warranty?
