sure way to isolate and piss off consumers.....idiots.

but, a good thing may come from this...these idiots may be the tipping point to better regulate the obsessive patent filings for ridiculous things and the enforcement of them.

there is a kickstarter going right now to create a "pod" "k-cup" (whatever they are) device that fits in a flat bottom coffee brewer.

Done-so if that's the case. They'll go the wayside like the Flavia machines did a while back.

I'm a low tech low buck guy so I roast on a stovetop popcorn popper, Whirly Pop. Some say that this type of roasting is better than air roasters because it keeps more in, that drum machine is probably similar having minimal air exchange. Fresh roasted coffee is great, inexpensive, and raw coffee stores well so one can buy coffee a couple times a year and always have fresh coffee on hand. I don't have a great palette and generally don't taste any of the stuff in the taster's notes on the different beans, but it's fresh so it's almost always good. One that stood out as exceptional was a peaberry, when I went to buy more it was gone and now don't remember what it was. It was almost blue instead of the common green bean. My brother is also a fan of peaberries so it may just be our thing, he does have a good palette tho.

Where are you buying your beans? I order from Sweet Maria's online. I considered growing it for a moment, but the process seemed kinda involved.

    Revive again!

My wife just bought one of these...it makes a smooth coffee. Worst coffee I ever had was at a Safeway gas station in MD...I took one swig and threw the rest out the window...

Nice choice. I've been using my Behmor for five years now and been happy with it. I left a small roast unattended a couple years ago and the roast started on fire. I thought for sure I had wrecked my roaster and to be honest, it's not quite as smooth as it once was as a result, but it's still running 2 yrs later. It's on borrowed time, so when it goes I'll likely replace it with another unless I go with something more commercial for larger roasts. I much prefer the drum roasters over the air roasters.
