How to not clean your computer keyboard and monitor....

I used a vacuum cleaner on my laptop the other day.

Got rid of all the dust..

 

I took all the keys off and cleaned with lysol. Now, the keys stick when you type and my wife and kids complain about it all the time. I should have left them sticky and covered in Bacteria!!!

 

That'll happen every time when you use the wrong weight oil.

 

I took mine out and rinsed it, then took all the keys off and individually dried them with a hairdryer. That took like an hour..

I'd throw them in the dishwasher.

 

When the keyboard gets really dirty and stuff starts to stick that's when you got buy a new one. They are $5 on ebay. Every time I start a new job I bring in my own keyboard and mouse. I like having a keyboard and mouse I'm use to that doesn't have God-knows-what between the keys. But I use a computer for 75%-100% of my daily work.

 

I heard that the car wash does wonders for your computer too!

 

why dont you try some meguiars products, you know, wash, clay bar, polish, wax and some quick detailer every 2 weeks

funny story....

My current room mate and i went to Clemson together. He hooked me up with this sweet computer helpdesk IT type job. this was what is referred to as a "legacy" job. never posted, its just passed from friend to friend. So he told me to just say yet to everything richard (my new boss said) during the interview. so Richard asked me things like are you good with computers, have you ever replaced a hard drive blah blah blah. i said yes to everything even though i didn't know how to even turn a computer on. anyway, Richard found out the first day when i couldnt copy a program onto a floppy drive. he was like "you dont know anything about computers do you" i said no and he said "thats ok, you'll learn". so there was no point to that part of the story except to let you know we had a cool as hell boss. and his budget was big enough to where he could hire morons and not really care. So we get all kinds of stupid calls.... "my headphones work, can you look at them" stupid stuff like that. So after richard leaves for the day my room mate took his very nice keyboard home. we took it out to the shooting range and pumped about 30 9mm rounds through it and then took it back to his office and put it on his desk with a note that said "the space bar sticks, can you fix it please".

the next day richard was fine about it, he said "since my idiot employees used my computer for a clay pigeon i now have an excuse to buy a new one." he then took us out ot lunch. damn i miss him, he was the best boss i ever had. So long story short.... guns dont clean keyboards worth a damn....

 

That sounds like my current boss (minus the large budget).

I use electronics cleaner (same stuff I used to clean my MAF sensor). It evaporates (even from a puddle) in less than a minute, and takes everything with it!
