That is why I said I wished it was the same as the Highlander. And my Highlander is Full Time AWD.

More on-demand awd, its fwd unless the computer thinks you need awd. And agreed, comparing a highlander to the Tacoma is a little ridiculous, it has more in common with a Camry than the Tacoma.

I actually don't mind this 6-spd auto. I just came from a 2014 jeep Cherokee with a 9-spd trans that I don't think ever made it into 9th gear. I also had that transmission updated three times with nothing ever seeming to get better. It was not smooth at all, it would shift hard at times, other times would feel like it didn't want to shift at all. I really got tired of driving the Cherokee so I bought a new Tacoma. This 16 Tacoma is a bit different than the 05 Tacoma I had but I am loving the better gas mileage, all the updates and just way better feel to driving than the Cherokee.

Nope the 09 Highlander full time awd. The newer models is on demand awd. I know because we also have the 2011 Rav that we traded in which has an on demand 4wd.

You sir are correct, my mistake. I only looked at the 14s before settling on a rav4.

Yeah, I'm not a gear head at all. For myself I'm just surprised at how much smoother the 3.5 highlander engine feels over my new Taco 3.5

I realize it's not a vehicle that compares properly. I just figured the engines in the Taco would be comparatively smooth as refined feeling as the new Highlander.

I guess it is what it is. I do like my truck overall. Thanks.
