TRD exhaust and AFE stage 2 intake. I was hoping for better sound but exhaust is out the other side.

Yeah but I think I might change my mind on the overall setup. Lets just call this V.1.0.
The cover doesn't sit as low as I want and I kinda want to make the bars removable without having to take my cover half apart. Kinda a pain in the ass right now... but it will work for what I need it for and versatile.

That is a good question... why am I doing this. really I am thinking about it because I have $225 in Toyota funny money to dump and nothing to spend it on. I owned a Focus ST with a J pipe so I am aware of what a loud exhaust sounds like and honestly I did not like it... too much drone. maybe I should put some more thought into it.

what 100K service around $200 should I do? I have new plugs, new air filter, changed the gear oil in front/rear diff and transfer case, transmission flushed. anything else I should do, maybe radiator flush?

I have the TRD exhaust on my TX Pro. Gotta say I like the low RPM sound, but at higher RPMs it really doesn't have a real aggressive sound. With a COI @ 3K RPM it definitely made a difference in the sound.

Agreed I have the TRD catback with the TRD SC an 2nd gear has a decent throatyness to it but high RPMs not so much

how does it sound at highway speed. most of my driving is at or above 60. my Focus was at 3K rpm at 70 and it had an awful drone from 2.5K to 3.5K.... right where I always drove. I do miss the low end growl.

also, the tipping point for me to get in trouble with the wife would be... did you see any tangible difference in MPG or responsiveness?

Mine came from the factory with the exhaust so I can't say much for MPG improvements. Honestly, at 60+ mph or 2.5-3.5k rpm, you don't really hear it much (or maybe I'm just used to it) and can have a normal conversation in the cab.

The sound is mostly at start up and at lower speeds. When I got on the highway this morning, I couldn't hear it much at all over the road noise and my tires. And those aren't even really loud. But you definitely hear the rumble at low speeds and between red lights. I'm happy I did it. Overall, I can't say I'm used to a v6 exhaust yet. I had a dumped exhaust on my old '04 Silverado v8. Very distinct difference haha.

IMO: if you're worried about an annoying/overpowering sound or loud drone that the wife won't like, this would probably be the only upgraded exhaust you'd be happy with. I've only had it on for about 12 hours so far but I'll be traveling for the holidays and plan in paying close attention to the mpgs and how my cruise control responds. From what I've read, this gives you more of a top end than low end boost.
