Do these stick out far enough to prevent door dings? That's one of the things I'm most concerned about, too many careless people.

Also I've seen a mention of a tailgate reinforcement, how badly are these needed? I am getting a short bed and will occasionally be transporting my motorcycles in the bed to and from the desert and racetracks.

It really depends on the door (front-square vs. rear w/cutout) and vehicle height. Any vehicle as tall as yours will obviously clear the door, since your own doors clear the sliders. Most car front doors today have a squared profile and minimal curve so will get stopped, and doors on lower sitting trucks, grocery carts, etc will also. They aren't not going to stop everything though.

As to the 2nd question, I would post a question like "Motorcycle haulers. Tailgate reinforcement needed?" and see if you can get some of the guys who already do it to chime in. I doubt many will visit this thread, but it would be a good topic to get a consensus. The new tailgate has a much better design so it may not need any depending on the bike.

Bolt or Weld? Definately not into the Mobtown sliders. I was waiting to see AP Apex or Pelfrybilt on a 3rd gen. Right on man! Any additional pics or info would be great.

lots of snow where i am but ill get more pics.... but yea i did some research and for me these were the best looking sliders. and beside the great look they are super stout and have great craftsmanship! if you go on All-Pro website they have a very thorough description ( ) but i can tell you they bolt directly to the frame, no welding needed, can support the vehicle on a high-lift, they stick out enough that you can use them as side steps and will protect from shopping carts/door dings, and with the diecut fill plate you dont have to worry about people or animals getting the feet trapped, they are angled up to provide best possible clearance. i couldnt be happier with them! and Jon and the crew at All-Pro are very knowledgable with great customer service! i would recommend this product to anyone looking for a great pair of sliders! @allpro thanks for exceeding my expectations with these sliders!

So when I looked at the pricing for these I was confused, can you tell me how much for a set like yours with the top cover plate?

Find a company that makes what you like, as close to home as possible, if possible, to avoid freight  I am partial to SOS because @EddyRRT makes awesome stuff, and is close enough for me (SC) to make a run to pick up.

I have a set of CBI Offroad bolt on sliders on my 04 DCab and plan to put the same on my 16 when it arrives. Plenty of strength No drilling needed as the brackets are boxed around the frame and you can configure whether you want DOM, powder coated, bare metal and with or without kickouts.

I would expect the 16 design to be very similar to what I have on my 04.

Here's a pic of the box brackets around the frame with 4 box brackets per side.

This ^^ . Support the local-ish guys. Here's my bolt-ons/frame mount from SOS . They are as good as any out there IMO. If you can lift the truck with them, how much better do you really need, lol?

    DCLB

Here is a good shot to illustrate where they sit relative to the door height.
