Technically it is an engine. You have various motors that power the fans and power windows etc.

I have no opinion on the 16's. I still have 2-3 years before I'll even consider trading for something newer but will be watching how the 16's are doing. But one thing I like about Toyota is that they tend to stay away with gadgets and unproven technology. It may not be the most hi-tech truck on the market, but they do tend to be well proven.

Thanks, I would be OK with the interior..it all grows on you. When I get a chance, i am going to look up a parts list and see what is behind the post, some say an airbag...an it does have a sticker on the post now. So maybe it does or doesnt, kinda strange they would only do it on the drivers side. If not, maybe they will have the parts for the handle.

To: JimJustJim, troll hunter and reporter: I am NOT a troll, I started on here in 14 when looking for my 14 Tacoma. There are more opinions than just yours, and you may not like others posts, but you DONT KNOW me. You read it how you want, but a critique of me is not necessary, lets be civil on here. I do not HATE anything about the vehicle, it is still a consideration. I just pointed out things i was not happy with, so those looking could at least think about them, but not for folks like you to do troll reports out on here for all. Read it and move on Bro! Let the others read it and give a useful response.

Forgive me, just a knee jerk reaction. Just expected it based on many other trolls. Not fair to you, and I'm glad you spoke up so that I could be wrong!

I too agree that it it best to get one fresh off the transport truck, BUT there are not enough of a variety on one lot to find exactly what you want. But, usually there is one out there just like one wants. You have to travel or have it brought in. If you want it trucked you will pay big bucks, IF you can find someone to do it. Some high end dealers do that with luxury cars, but I have dealer traded picking up $150,000 vehicles and all in between. My 14 Taco, that I bought was a dealer trade with 80 or so miles on it, they got it in and I went over, drove it, looked at it and bought it...no problems. My 15 CRV Touring was a dealer trade to the store I drove for, I was going to go get one, but mine just showed up on a DT one day, and it was not hurt 100 miles, I got it, saved me from going to get it. Also one thing on dealer trades, you can get some free stuff in the deal. My son bought a 14 Tacoma and ended up somehow with free rails, all weather mats in addition to the regular ones..no extra charge. The weird thing on his deal, was he drove 150 miles to look at the truck as it was the one most close to him. He tried to trade with the dealer and they would not come to his price. He left and about half way back the manager called and asked him what happened, he said you all would not meet me on the price on a trade. Mgr was going to call him back, but never did. He stopped at a local dealer and told him what he wanted, they looked around as they did not have the truck, to make it short, he had them dealer trade the very same truck 3 hours later back to this store and he got it for what he offered the out of town dealer and got free stuff to boot. The very same truck! Hows that for a story. It happened. I see customers get free nitrogen, free pin strips, and other stuff with no extra billed out prices. since most of that stuff cannot be undone. You are in command as the buyer, if you want a fresh one, by ordering and waiting. You may even see one on the lot you like, but look closely, it may be a dealer trade from another deal. Some dealers loan out new stock while a customers car is in for a problem. All sorts of things to look for and ask about, before buying.

Ok, Jim, no problem. We are OK. The more info we have, the better off we are, especially when we know what to look for rather than get her home and find out afterwards. I do know what you are talking about as there are some that love to "troll". Not me, dont have time to go that route if I wanted too.

Why does everyone feel the need to make a thread about their opinion on the new taco? If you dont like it, dont buy it.

When, I said 4wd drag, They do put some more drag on the drive train, that is why they usually have a lower mileage rating, and in all my drives, I cant pretty much tell when a vehicle is in 4wd mode. It is a case of friction and laws of engineering. I, after driving them dont relly see much difference in mileage,a good thing, but there is more shifting in action with them. Possibly can be solved with the ECT mode which I did not try and will next time. At least someone else said you could try this. Perhaps I did not explain it to your liking. If you dont think there is more stuff to turn and more weight in a 4wd, I dont know what else to say, I just called it more drag.

I'm ignorant here, this is my first 4wd. So the drivetrain on a 4wd, even when not in 4wd, still offers more resistance than a 4x2? Just want to learn here, can you explain what's offering the increased resistance or how it works? Is it just a matter of the weight?

Inquiring minds want to know, learn before you buy. Answer this, why do people get on this forum and read stuff that they dont have to read and then post for people to NOT comment on things they dont want to read, after reading them? Got nothing to do with buying it or not buying. Perhaps, with your opinion, they should just close this forum, but I happen to like reading what others find and think. I think that was the intent of forums like this, but maybe not. Duh!

Maybe both weight and more parts. Even disengaged all the parts are turning at the disengagement point, just not connected(in gear) ,more weight. I never tried the one I drove in whatever mode it was in, but i do know both got about 1mpg less than the 2wd models. I have tested this too and found that adding another person in cars, can knock around 2 mpg off the mileage, as in when I take someone to pick up a car, I set and reset the mileage on way to and way back from where I drop them off and that seems to be the case, of course it is just a unscientific test and results can vary. The more efficient a car (high mpg), the more of a difference I would see. I am no engineer, just saying what I observed. And in this case very close to not being much difference. There is some reason for more transmission hunting, what ever it is on the heavier models. Maybe a minor software update will fix it.

There's a difference between useful technical information, versus just sharing your opinion on why you didn't like a car and wont buy it. It's not a review site so people are probably not coming on here to read your opinions, theres plenty of other sources that do reviews and there is also the test drive. I'm going to guess that if they made the car perfect in every way to your liking you would probably come on here and post about why you wouldnt buy one because of the price tag. Let your money do the talking on changes toyota made, and if you're really passionate about it then your opinions will probably be more worthy on their facebook page or something.

Very interesting opinion of the 2016 Tacoma. I had my order in for a 2015 Tacoma, but after learning of the new 2016, decided to wait for it's arrival. However, while returning from the Detroit Auto Show last January, I totaled my Pontiac Vibe AWD when striking a large buck on I-96 at 70 MPH.

To attempt in making a long story short, since the Vibe was totaled, bought the original Tacoma which I had originally ordered. It is a Limited, 4DR, short bed 4WD. I now have 4500 mile on the Tacoma and love it with the exception of comfort level. Hate to say it, but it is no where near as comfortable as my 1998 Ford Conversion van. In reality, I feel the problem is my old weary 73 year old bones. I am seriously considering buying a new RAV4, or possibly a Forester. In a nutshell, this Tacoma may be for sale soon. It seems my old 97 T100 was more comfortable, but that may be because I was much younger!

And yet you still read the whole thing and then wasted effort to post about it. It's just too bad that it didn't agree with your wee little ego.
