Topped off all the fluids before I left for 3 weeks of training at Ft Irwin so my wife could drive it to work worry free. She drove it once a week (about 10 miles round trip in town) and I drove it once around town when I got back. When to get on the highway with it and it randomly dumped down 2 gears and died... Got it home and started dumping oil into it. 4 qts later it was back up to the full line but wouldn't start. Pulled the fuel relay and dumped some oil down each spark plug hole and cranked on it for a bit. Put it back together and it almost started for about 1 second before I think the fuel washed the walls again and it lost compression. Only code it threw was "over retarded timing". No idea where the oil went. Front and rear main seals appear fine and I didn't find any other signs of it leaking. 4 qts of oil disappeared in only 40-50 miles of driving (mostly around town). And no my wife isn't to blame. haha

Merry Christmas? Man, that sucks. If it went out the exhaust the only sign would be some white smoke, which would easily be disguised in this cold weather. I'll make a smokin' deal to you and you only on my complete truck... between the two you could build one hell of a dune machine. Can even finance it... just sayin'.

Did you enjoy NTC? I always thought it was the perfect place for a desert race. Lightline to wasl to the range back to goldstone would be a fun lap!

It died back in September and I started my new job a week later so i haven't had much time to mess with it. I can't finance it since I just financed an F150... haha

NTC sucked ass! August is a terrible time to go there! We hit 120+ for 6 days in a row. We were keeping our canteens/water bottles under our Tshirts against our skin to keep the water cool! It was fun to blast the paladins across the terrain out there! Pretty sketchy though! We almost buried the tube in the embankment a few time! I'll go back to Iraq before I would go back to NTC...

I'm all out of the loop.

NTC in August is the best time to go! Less scorpions, sidewinders, and those fucking green mojave's only come out at night. Plus Opfor takes it easy on you, they are busy hangin' in the shade too...

Ya, they are way less awnry when it's hot. The best is when it rains and pushes the creepy crawlies to high ground, usually where you set up your bedroll. Good times.

Yeah. Luckily those were the only ones we saw. Both of which we uprooted emplacing the paladin so they were some angry motherfuckers!

I once had to hide from the French Air Force out in that desert...(CAS mission) so to hide from their therms I buried myself in the sand with only my face (covered in a shemagh) exposed. I watched a line of tarantulas march by 2" from my face. They march like soldiers.

Just saw this on CL- http://kpr.craigslist.org/pts/5335045943.html

As long as they didn't crawl on my face I could probably handle that! haha

As bad ass as that looks it's fucking expensive! If my 1GR is dead I think I'll pick up a 100K mile L92 off of ebay to get the Taco running again. Then 50K or so miles down the road I'll hopefully have some savings to rebuild it.

If I could just win the lottery already (I should probably buy a lottery ticket if I ever want that to happen haha); I would just pay a shop to install a brand new LS9. haha But that is about as wishful as thinking gets.

I would like to start all over with a tube chassis and a 650HP motor, center mounted diff, etc.

Those are my plans... I mean dreams... haha I'd just like to keep my sealed 4dr cab and A/C and heat. Otherwise I might as well go pick up a used Trophy Truck with a fiber glass body.

I'm with ya on the cab. Heater and A/C is a nice thing to have. I would like to pressurize the cab like an aircraft... to keep the dust out.

I swear it always rains 1 of the days per trip when we go to the dunes, and when it does, I'm pretty sure I am having a hell of a lot more fun in my Tacoma than any of the guys on dirt bikes, quads, side by sides and sand rails! haha

Agreed. I have friends with Side by sides, turbo rzr's etc. They get covered in mud and miserable, while I'm wearing shorts and smoking cigars.

Yep pretty sweet! There is even a 12ft deep kennel for the puppy in front of my Tacoma with room between them for me to work under the hood! It's got it's own natural gas heater in it.
I got an 11th gen instead... Picking it up Saturday
