Even an agreement of the existence of the problem and the need to move on it is an improvement to the situation

Kyoto wasn't close to fair and gave everyone different targets. Canada received the shafts at Kyoto. In Paris the agreement basically says everyone had to find their own solution to the problem and agree to impliment it.

Kyoto lacked the participation of all nations and I also believe the ambition that the current proposals embody

IMO they had to sign something after putting on a dog and pony show. Why not sign when there's no consequence to breaking the agreement?

Making the emissions targets legally binding by way of any type of global enforcement structure would have made it unratifiable but major polluters like the US

That's my point, major polluters won't intentonally harm their national interests. The Paris agreement is more about wealth redistribution than reducing emissions.

Well obviously I can't predict the future any more than you can , but assuming every one honors their pledges to the agreement we collectively will make progress . Taking the position that someone MAY reneg so there is no point in trying will definitely mean no progress will occur

I'm saying some of the world's biggest polluters signed with no intention of meeting their targets. An agreement had to be made given the optics of the situation, even if it's purely symbolic and unenforceable.

Cleaner energy sources are good for everyone, there's no denying that. The Paris negotiations got to a point where simply signing something became the objective, that's all I'm saying.

    Tacoma Update (PSSST @DoorDing)

So today was as interesting as the rest of my situation. We left my house at about 9 am to go drop off my resignation letter, don't worry I'm switching jobs so at no point will I be unemployed, and then drive up to Cochrane to pick up my repaired truck. Well, road and trail ready repaired truck since we won't be fixing the bumper. I'll likely replace that with a steel one in a year when I can save back up enough for one.

Anyways we hit Cochrane at about 1:30 pm and, with my wife and baby along, we all decide it's food time. So we hit up a Timmies and had a fairly relaxed lunch. After all, the shop was open till at least 5 pm and the truck should just be sitting there ready since I setup everything on Friday. Well, we get to the shop and find out nothing was done after they did the spindle and alignment. It turns out the local Toyota dealer, which I bought my rims from sight unseen via credit card over the phone, refused to deliver them since I hadn't paid my bill. WTF? I check my credit card and the rims have definitely went through. So we pile back into the Ford and rip over to Toyota. Turns out the parts boss, who is the guy I originally talked to, wasn't the guy who ran my card so he had no idea I had paid for the rims. He had just assumed, since I'm from out of town, that the rims weren't paid for yet and he wasn't going to let them go until I personally came to pay. ARG! So quickly we grab the rims ourselves and complete the delivery by around 3 pm.

Luckily this shop was super nice and gave us the all clear that they'd have everything done by 4:30 pm. I tell the guy who offloads the rim, who is not the guy working on my truck, that the lugs are in one of the rim boxes as are the center caps too. One of my local buddies shows up and suggests that my family and her go for a drink and snack while we wait so off we go. Almost immediately after ordering an Iced Tea I get a call. The lugs, yeah, they don't fit. WTF? So I call the parts guy, who is honestly a great guy and goes out of his way to make sure things are right when they go wrong, and he does a double take (he put the lugs in the box himself to make sure they were right) on the phone. He sends his delivery guy out the door with new lugs. It's now 4:15 pm.

Anyways, after this things go fairly smoothly. We eat quickly and hike over to the shop where the job is done. The mechanic who was working on the truck finds the correct lugs in one of the boxes after he's already done putting on two other tires :annoyed:. Not really his fault, apparently the other guy never told him anything and he just assumed Toyota was trying to tell us that the old lugs would fit the new rims.

So my trucks back. The alignment is not perfect but it's well within specs. The mechanic is sure the UCA is bent because he could get the one side dialed in but the other he had to aim for within specs, which I could tell bugged the bejebers out of him. It drives like a dream with the new rims though it needs more work. Obviously I'll need a new bumper at some point. This one will get me by for as long as I want it to though, even offroad. The VSC light is on solid and won't clear. Odds are that's just a hangover from all the suspension damage and work afterwards so I'll reset that with the jumper method tomorrow. Oh, and when I pulled out the truck ran rough for a second and threw a misfire code from cylinder 3, but it cleared up in less than 10 seconds and never returned once the scangauge cleared the code. My truck always runs rough when cold so, again, I'm just guessing it's a hangover from the battery being disconnected and all the work that was done but I'll keep an eye on it.

Anyways here's the rim damage :

All I will say is that the Cooper ST Maxx is tough as hell to take this damage and not damage or deflate!

Here are the new rims. It was dark by the time I rolled out so no all four pics yet:

Oh, and here are the rims specs copied from FN Wheels FB page. The rim is only a few months old and is apparently a near copy of the 7" wide TRD rims. The rims I got were slightly cosmetically damaged, though I can't find the damage yet, so I walked away with them for a steal of a deal. They look badass and they instantly solved my former rubbing issues that required spacers. The 8" rim is bitching too and should give me better tire choices:

Without further adieu we present the FN Wheels ƒ(x) Pro. We actually released this wheel earlier this year in the summer, but every production run has sold out very quickly due to popular popular demand from word-of-mouth sales. We developed this wheel with the valuable feedback of all of our customers who were seeking this style/design in a 17x8" wheel.

    Full specs:

    Model: FN Wheels ƒ(x) Pro
    Diameter: 17"
    Width: 8"
    Offset: 0mm
    Backspacing: 4.5"
    Load rating: 955KG (2,100lbs+)
    Weight: 23.88lbs (approximate)
Certification: JWL-T, VIA, SAE J-2530, DOT approved
Colors: Dark gloss gunmetallic, matte black, matte bronze, and semi-matte gunmetallic
Toyota specifics: 106mm hub centric for Toyota hubs and lug holes drilled for 12mm Toyota wheel studs for a snug fit on all 6x139.7 Toyota hubs.
