Budget tires

Need a new set of tires. Unfortunately funds are tight right now. Any suggestions on a decent tire that won't break my bank. I don't off road, very little snow driving. Basically highway to and from work. 17" stock rims.

Kauffman tire has GOOD deals randomly, like $144 off four tires. I got my Michelin's for cheap... Went in on a day with $144 off, then Michelin sent a $70 rebate a month later, used Kauffman credit ($50 rebate a month after that) and I got them for like six hundred something bucks installed BEFORE rebates

 

Not sure you want to go cheap on tires. It may cost you more if the tires don't work properly.

 

He is right... Bad tires and weather wrecked my truck a few months ago... Most tire shops have credit, and charge no interest if paid off in 6months... I paid my tires off in 3 months... Well worth it.

 

Check out Mastercraft. They're owned by Cooper and while they're pretty cheap, they're still solid.

 

I would just buy some OEM take offs for $200 and be done.

 

I've had great luck with Coopers on several vehicles.

Bought a set of kumho 51 because I needed tires and didn't have the cash to do the lift and whatnot yet to support nicer bigger tires , I really like them and it was a good deal around 550

 

I'm a big fan of Hankooks. The Dynapro ATM is a great tire and very affordable.

 

Don't go cheap on tires.

Michelin LTX M/S 2's have done awesome on snow/ice this winter. And they are a highway all season tire. These tires are now sold as the Michelin Defender.

 

does this make my Michelins I bought as the ltx ms 2's in September worth more lol

 

LOL Maybe? I got mine in the Spring. Been awesome tires.

 

was reading reviews on the new "defender"..... I think we got a better deal? only time will tell...

 

From the claims I've seen the Defender has an updated rubber compound for better traction on snow/ice. That usually means softer rubber which means shorter tread life.

Interesting... I see they still list the LTX M/S 2 on their site as well. A bit confusing as they don't have a "Compare" feature to actually detail the differences in the tires. Tread patterns looks nearly identical - except the Radial appears to have more siping on the edges.
