    I've used it while camping for random stuff like air mattress, etc. However, it is 400 W only while in park. If you put the car in gear, it will only be 100W.

    I wonder how much this inverter weighs, might be worth taking it out if you never use it, increase your power to weight ratio and fuel milage. Just a thought.

    I would guess less than 2-3 lbs at the very most. It's inside the bottom of your center console if that gives you an idea

    I've used mine to charge laptops, cell phones and to run clippers to cut my dogs hair. My next use will be to charge the trolling motor batteries in my boat. Someone pointed out that when you are camping and don't have access to power, run an extension cord back to your on board charger while driving, top off the batteries and you are good to go.

    I tried to make a cup of coffee on a one eye electric stove, it put out some heat but after 25 min and the water had not boiled yet i gave up.

    Has anyone just simply swapped to a larger inverter and retained the switch? Or is it a momentary switch? I honestly have only used a small shop vac with mine and it ran poorly.
    Would be fair,y easy to do with latching relays etc and use the factory switch.

    So has it been done?

    Charging batteries from the inverter is a huge waste of power. Get a 12 volt input charter and connect it to the battery terminals. You are losing power through the inverter where it gains voltage from 12 volt and then your charger is turning around and dropping that voltage right back to 12 volts. Both steps are power loss!

    Used it once to plug in my snap-on light when I was taking out the taillights to put in some LED reverse lights. Other than that, haven't found a use for it yet. I might pick up a small air compressor to use when we go mountain biking so I dont have to carry my other pump with me to check pressure.

    I use it to run an air pump when I am transporting live bait. I want to bring it on my next off road trip and bring an extension cord and a hedge trimmer to cut back some of the trails.

    depending on the coffee maker some may draw too much. I'd imagine most are more like 600-800watts. Never actually looked I know my Gaggia espresso machine is 800watt though

    Yeah I looked at a pic of inverter online. I'd be just fine with that being under passenger seat or behind rear panel with a vent fan. So long as looks factory.

    from an efficiency standpoint, I am sure you are correct, but I already have a setup that will work. I don't plan on changing to something else when what I already have will work. Plug in to bed, plug into on board charger and charge three batteries all at once...done

    I like the bed organizer you have there with the sand section above the rear wheels, living in AK I'm sure that helps keep the tires grip a bit.

    It wont run a power tool- drill,saw zall etc. Its not a Man's type of outlet. It should be 15amp. 4amps is not enough.

    15 amps is 1600 watts. Do you realize the power going into the inverter isn't coming from outer space? It's coming from your 12 volt, lead acid battery. Your battery can't sustain 150 amps for very long
