I am considering putting nerf bar side steps on my truck when it comes. The truck is a TRD Sport off road, stock tires and I will not lift it. I am considering N-fab wheel to wheel bars. I am not a serious off roader so I do not need sliders. I am a hunter and fisherman and do go off road and end up on some rough roads at times with deep ruts and occasional obstacles to go over. I would like to know how much clearance I would lose. How far below the frame do they hang? Is there a better option that would allow my wife easier access without too much clearance lose? The RPB RX-3 look like they may not hang as low, does anybody know the difference in clearance between these and N-fab. Have many people had issues with clearance or is it not that big a deal for occasional rough spots.

I've spent the last year going back and forth trying to decide what to finally put on my Taco. I've got a 2.5" lift on it so some of the shorter members of my family have noticed the height increase.. Because I spend time in the woods and I expect my truck to handle the dips, dings, and off camber trails, getting a whimpy set of nerf bars that are just aesthetically pleasing wasn't an option. Frankly, the set I want are only made for Jeeps, which really pisses me off. I've had the Smittybilt SRC Side Armor on our Jeep for 10 years and they have never failed. I've looked into building those, but I don't have access to a big enough bender and I wasn't confident that buying the ones for the JK and retro fitting them to my Taco would work out.

I decided to go with the RBP RX3 set as a compromise. They are not as strong as the Smittybilts since its a double tube, not a triple tube design and the outter tube is not a solid tube the full length. However, I do like the stepping surface, which is was caught my attention when I first came across them. They support 450 pounds so if you are loading a couple kayaks or other large items onto your roof rack, you can be confident they will support the weight of you and anyone helping you do the lifting.

Ironically, Amazon had one of the better prices on the bars. Since its a bolt on kit, I didn't see the need to waste money with any shop overcharging for it or the installation. This is my Christmas present to me so I'll let you know how it turns out.

Thanks CVTejas. Would like to hear how you like them. Hope they are good quality for what they charge. They are what I was thinking about getting also. If not too much trouble after you bolt them on could you let me know how far below the actual frame of the truck they hang. I am guessing about 3".
