I know this has probably been answered but when I come to a stop there is a weird thump noise about 2 seconds after I stop. Kinda sounds like i have a loose 25lb weight sliding from the back of my bed to the cab. It is very noticeable and annoying. Could this have anything to do with the drive shaft. I drive an 06 reg cab. The truck has 54k miles on it. I bought an extended warranty up to 103k miles so I should be able to have what ever it is repaired. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Other than that I love the truck.

You should probably also check U-joints. Just in case.

you have a set of leaf springs on each side in the rear. Add a leaf spring to each set. downsouth motor sports has them for pretty cheap.

well if you have already done that, and it still makes that sound then now what. Is there a TSB for this that I can take to the dealership. want it gone.

If my gas tank is about 3/4 full and come to a normal or slightly hard stop, I hear the thump. My guess it is fuel slooshing around and slapping the front of the tank. Of course I am known to be wrong too.

If you still have the sound after the AAL then the traction bar or a new leaf pack is next. I have it too, but I know it isn't gonna hurt anything. Or you could even get a one piece drive shaft. It doesn't bother me enough to spend money on a sound. nothing is broken and it doesn't need to be fixed.

Most trucks do this, it's the penalty for having a lot of fuel onboard... keep track of it as you go through a tank, if it comes and goes that's probably what it is.

My truck makes the same noise and I am fairly sure its the fuel sloshing around in the tank.

X2 thats what i was thinking cause it doesn't happen all the time, esp when the tank is super full or super empty. i drive in stop and go traffic the majority of the time and it only happens when there is extra space in the tank.

i encounter axle wrap at times but that's cause when i lowered my rear i killed the rear struts...

so this is not axle wrap if the OP has the same problem i do
