I am undecided on what mods i really want to do on my truck. It's my first one. I have no idea about lifting trucks. I want to do it but don't want to regret it in the long run.

I saw this Ad on craigslist by a local shop. They are pricing it at $950? Is this a really good deal or can I find a better one?

"running a special on 3" lift kits for your 05-16 Toyota Tacoma 6 lug truck 2WD or 4WD, kit includes Bilstein adjustable 5100s for the front, 5100s for the rear and a 1" block and ubolt kit (or upgrade to procomp add a leaf for an additional $150) alignment is included in this package and will clear up to a 285-70-17 tire"

1inch sagging seems quite a bit. Are they the same size spacers on both sides?

Ok, so I am new to this "taco lean"..... what does it mean and is it common? They are the same size spacers....... And no the tires do not rub on fenders but they do catch a little bit of the UCA at full lock.....

Did you replace coil springs? Also park at level ground and measure from center of your hub to fender. "Taco lean" means your battery and gas tank is on same side of the vehicle resulting "lean"

You have spring spacers or strut spacers?

Any chance you broke a spring?

I have the same configuration so I can speak a bit to pricing.

    4x 5100 from Jet - ~$230

    1" Blocks and 9" U-bolts from Toytec - ~ $100

Labor for install and alignment - $325

    Total: $655

    In addition, you won't get 3" from 5100's, you'll get 2.5".

I agree with the hassle, it's pretty lame they say this kit is advertised by Icon as being adjustable up to 2" on the 2016 and in reality on the maximum pre-load setting of 1.75" thread showing you only get 1.5" of lift. Shouldn't have to change out the springs for the money already spent on this set-up, it is more false advertising than anything... Icon is lame I don't recommend it to anyone on the 16' until they change out the springs on this kit. It's funny people that haven't done jack to their trucks are like "maybe you should put stiffer springs on them". So to all you lame ass "experts" why should I have to spend more money on springs just to get 2" of lift when that's what Icon advertises the extended travel will give you in the first place. And if you haven't modded your truck and just read the info on some website or forum please understand you don't know anything unless you have spent the money and have experienced these issues first hand. You are just an ass clown that annoys 99% of the people on this site who actually do mod their trucks and do have experience. So go buy a Chevy Colorado and be with people that are more like you - The Douche Canoe Society. A true thank you to the guys and gals on this site that are knowledgeable and experienced with these great trucks, we all greatly appreciate you.

Currently just stock I almost pulled the trigger in the icon stage 2 kit but after seeing your post I decided to shop around more. I was just saying that with your suspension being maxed out and so stiff It almost would have been better to just run spacers for $300 bucks sounds like the ride quality would have been the same if not better :/ My 2010 tacoma came with a 3 inch spacer lift, I never got around to replacing it. I never realized how it effected the ride until I got my 2016. Sorry you got so screwed man! I'd be in the same boat if it want for your post so thank you I do hope you figure out a resolution for all this.

I'm glad I saved you the heartache and the time/money wasted on this set-up, I got the kit from Toytec and they gave me the same run around that Icon did. I don't recommend dealing with either of those companies because neither of them in countless emails would agree with me in writing that the Icon extended travel kit was only good for 1.5" of lift. Toytec over the phone even told me that running them at 2.25" thread showing was perfectly okay, but when asked repeatedly in emails they would never answer that same question. They just kept saying that the Icon extended travel coilovers were adjustable up to 2", so I would keep asking what amount of lift should I get at the max pre-load of 1.75" thread showing?? All they would answer is it is adjustable up to 2", so f$ck Icon and Toytec. I plan on selling these coilovers and getting something else.. In the meantime I plan on warning as many people as possible to steer clear of Icon/Toytec.

I'm running Icon and don't have any issues what so ever. Most people on here already know that icon is a very reputable company that makes outstanding products. I've got the stage 5 kit, and the truck rides amazingly well. I'm sorry that you've had such a negative experience, but might want to chill out on trashing two very reputable companies.

Nope, people need to know and I actually messaged you I've a month ago to ask you about about your set-up with no reply... I am truely glad your set-up works well, but it is not the case on my end and others that have wasted their money on this kit. I'm not the only one with this issue and if I can keep others from making the same mistake then it's worth it. Presented with straight up facts neither Icon or Toytec have admitted the problem or have been any help to resolve this issue. If you were in my place or others with this same issue would you be happy?? Would you just sit there and say to yourself "better luck next time I guess??" I'm not trashing anyone sir just stating the facts, if you don't like to hear the truth just ignore me like I'm about to ignore you.

Well, I find it hard to call these "facts" since I am not running into the same "issues". I've been running this kit for about 4500 miles, on and off road. Easily clearing my 285's(though is did have some rubbing before we got the alignment squared away). But yes, feel free to ignore me, don't really care, I'm just sharing my extremely positive experiences with Icon. Also, I apologize for not replying to your message. I try getting back to everyone as soon as possible, but I guess sometimes things slip through the cracks. I've installed both this Icon stage 5 kit on my truck and the 5100 kit on my buddies 16. Mine sits a touch higher, and rides slightly more firm, but I knew that going in. That said, I wouldn't say that mine is a rough ride by any means. Anyhow, I hope you get your situation squared away. I still stand by Icon and their superior quality.

    Merry Christmas

Wow odd taco, someone must have pissed in your Cheerios today. First off, "extended travel" has nothing to do with the amount of lift. It means the shock will extend further to allow for more droop on articulation.
Second, the second gens and third gens are the same suspension components, but the 16's ride 1" higher than last years Tacoma. So the same shock from icon/King/toy tec/insert any company, will only give 2" lift on the 16's vs 3" on the second gens.
Third, don't tell icon to put a stiffer spring in. 650 is fine for a stock Tacoma. If you want to ride at the top of your suspension stroke, get a stiffer spring with a harsher ride, and enjoy topping out over everything.
Sounds like you need an education son.

P.S. If you are selling your icons, I'll take em

Gotta say it's a little disappointing to see that Toytec has changed the wording on their 2016 Boss kit to now say (highlighted) "Adjustable from 0-2"." When I bought the kit in Novermber it said the 0-3".
One of the reasons I went with it was that it was the only specific kit for the 2016 and I wanted the full 3".
My truck hasn't arrived yet and now wondering what I should do.
