I figure this will give those of us unfortunate enough to work this holiday a place to commiserate.

Who here will be working on Christmas? And what will you be doing?

    I'll start:
I work three week rotations in an Arctic Oil Field and just got up to work on Monday. So I'll work Christmas and New Years. I'll mostly be babysitting the communications equipment and installing a backup satellite circuit for the PCN.

Not working, lucky enough to have 2 weeks off but I'll wish you a Merry Christmas from Da U.P. anyway, hope you at least get fed well up there.

No family, and working Holidays this year. Got them off last year. I make double over-time for my 12 hour work day. Uncle Sam loves me this year.

Only sort of working. At home drinkin' beer, chowin' down on roast chicken, and keeping an eye on my servers doing a big batch processing update in EC2. While playing Fallout 4.

Oh, and I have to remote in to the office at 5 to change the auto-attendant phone system greeting from the Xmas one back to the normal one.

Not sure if this qualifies as work or not, but fuck it, I'm on salary, its close enough :p

At least your office is nicer than mine. I would post a picture but photobucket is blocked. Imagine a heated conex with rows of shelves, a 2x4/plywood wood bench and an incredibly uncomfortable wood stool. This is my life for 12 hours today.

Ya mines a little bit of a shit hole man but, yours sounds worse. At least I have a decent chair & direct TV at work. Oh, I'll be stuck here New Years Day as well and I was here Thanksgiving. I sign up for it because no local family (kid doesn't live with me) and it lets others off...and then theres the pay.

As of 12/19 I'm at $32,722.48 in income tax alone... I'm just a blue collar guy with no college...I feel for the cats making bank.

While I get it off, I have a friend that is a plow driver for the county when they are short staffed. We have a big snowstorm going on right now and he is in the cab of a big salt shaker plow. I work in the prison system and we have officers, food service, medical, security, IT, and other workers on duty. We still need utilities, police & fire protection, medical, etc. My family is going to see Star Wars on IMAX 3D again today and that takes people away from their home. Thank you all that provide civic services to those of us that get a day off! If you meet someone working today, please tell them thanks.

I always work the end of year holidays, I usually spend the money before it's earned though.
