Hey guys, I received a United Weld Supply toolbox for Christmas this year. Slimline, and I believe it's the 69" lid. It's a great looking box but it does not fit between the wheel wells in the bed. I believe it is the "E" dimension on their website dimensions. I cannot seem to find a box that fits the dimensions of my bed that I measured. I believe it was ordered from Amazon and said it would fit the truck, but of course doesn't. Does anybody have a UWS box and what size fits? Any help would be greatly appreciated

63"-64" fits about perfect. My last box was 61" and fit although there wasn't but 3/4" of overhang on either side.

I have a UWS that doesn't fit either. I may chop the corners off and weld a plate in place so it will clear the wheel wells

Thanks for the input guys. Honestly I'm to the point where I'm pissed enough to cut through the fender wells (not really). Austin, what size is your box?

I'm not sure. I would measure it but my truck is in the body shop due to a hit and run. I'm so pissed

Amazon is one of the worst sites for getting correct information for items that'll fit your car! If you find something you need to cross reference the item to the manufacturer to make sure it'll fit. From truck parts to vacuum cleaner bags!

I have the same one as @Cohutta in black, I'm a big fan! The lid isn't as tough as it initially seemed though so don't stand/sit on it unless you put a 2x8 or wider on top to distribute the weight. I prefer these to the low profile ones because despite the high profile it doesn't interfere with vision very much and that space the taller lid fills isn't good for anything else anyway. With the higher clearance below the box I can still use the full length of the bed for most long items I'd haul (boards, yard tools, folding tables, ladders, etc). It's all personal preference at the end of the day though.

One mod I highly recommend (should work with the low profile but measure before you try it) is to make some custom brackets for it out of 3/4" angle iron. Mine sits on there rock solid and it's real easy to take it on/off - those J hooks just suck.

Take a 12" chunk of 3/4" steel angle iron and drill 2 or 3 3/8" holes in the top and two 1/2" ones on the side. Then weld some 5/16" nuts to the bottom of those 3/8" holes and grind/prime/paint the whole thing. Use 1/2" carriage bolts to attach the bracket to the bed rail and some 5/16" x 1.5" stainless bolts (I like the pan-head ones that fit a hex key) with some fender washers thru the toolbox to hold it down.

One nice side effect of all this is that there's almost exactly 3/4" of play between the wall of the toolbox and the bed rails, so after the bracket goes in the whole thing is self-aligning.

Sounds like a great idea. Any chance you can post a picture? I'm awful with directions I always need a picture or a diagram lol

I took some pictures but I made the bracket almost 2 years ago and I can't find them right now. If they turn up I'll send them your way though. It took me quite awhile to make but somebody more experienced or who had a better shop available than I did could have probably cranked them out in an afternoon.
