What have you made/created today?

I made a bumper for my lawn mower and two flag holders for my truck, one for each side. The welds are not the best looking welds since I'm still learning.

 

This one no but many like it, I will take a lot more pics next time I do a major build seeing as how ppl seem to really like it

( when I build my truck I'm thinking of using yours as inspiration )

 

That's one awesome tree harvester, though.

And thanks for the compliment! My truck is still a work in progress. It never ends!

Finished this this morning. Curly maple plucked from the firewood pile.

Thanks. It's carved. Hollowed out with a gouge and then shaped with a spokeshave.

 

My mother quilts alot. She has made several that has won some awards.

@ERMB I need your help. The painting I did. The canvas wood warped. It's pretty out of wack. I can take a pic if you want. Any ideas on how I can fix it?

I read one way is to wet the wood down and put heavy object on each corner to make it lay flat and let it dry. Didn't work.

Any other suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

 

If you can show me a pic that would be helpful. Question, it's a wood panel or a canvas board which is basically a really dense cardboard with a canvas wrap.

 

Wood frame with canvas stretched over it I guess is what you'd call it.

• so if it's either scenario of board wet down the entire back side again get it damp NOT soaking. I usually use a sponge.
• Find newspaper and lay 3 layers of paper down then your painting and 3 more layers of newspaper on top. Like a sandwich.
• Next find something larger than the artwork like a board or thick glass that covers the entire artwork.
• Stack heavy objects like coffee table books lots of them so they distribute the weight over the whole thing. I usually go for about 25-30lbs or more.
• Let dry for 24 hours.

The idea is the newspaper will soak up the moisture and weight does not allow it to warp as it drys.

 

Ahh stretched canvas, similar to above only you need to give it about a week to dry completely....and you don't need newspaper.
Stack significant weight evenly distributed over all sides.
Wood takes a while to dry completely.

That happens often with larger canvases that are not properly supported. I noticed that there's a knot in the wood on the bottom stretcher. That's most likely your problem area.

 

Yeah. There's actually a knot on the top too. Lighter in color, so harder to see.

Would trying to sure it up make a difference? I read something about some type of metal brackets or something along those lines. Or even cutting some wood triangles to put in there.

My biggest concern is damaging the painting. Is it even possible to unstaple that and just make a new "frame" and re staple it? Without damaging the painting.

It looks really shitty hanging on the wall. I'm bummed about it being like that.
