    Looks paper thin, weird though it doesn't look like there's rust, is it a new truck? Did the po paint it? I'd hit the frame and see if you make any holes

    It's been painted/coated with something, there's black paint like stuff on some other parts other than the frame too and some drips here and there. Is this major enough to cause any problems?

    Looks like that whole section is weak. Where it is past the shackle mount should be fine to drive but i wouldnt trust towing anything from the hitch. Its an easy spot to work on. Id take bed off and repair it.

    This, but also check the rest of the frame, just use a hammer and go up and down the frame.

    Sliders, rear bumper, front skid, lifted
    Had to back up a grass/gravel hill to fit all the vehicles today. Wasn't working. Still haven't gotten the 4x4 fixed, but luckily my truck has it's own pseudo grey wire mod going (likely due to whatever the 4x4 issue is) on so I am still able to go into low gear, and lock the rear. What a difference that makes, even in 2wd. Got up first try.

    If you fix 4wd, tell me what you did. Cause I can still go into low range too, but the front hubs don't lock.

    Will do. This is the problem I'm having as well. No 4HI and no 4LO, but I can get the low gear of being in it (pretty nice for moving slowly without having to burn the clutch; it won't stall) and can then lock the rear. But the indicator on the dash doesn't work. Well it comes on occasionally when I go to start the truck, and will remain on until I turn it off, but it doesn't seem to have affect on the status of the system. Though if I unplug the connector for the ADD, the light does indeed blink (and the 4wd button "works" but doesn't really do anything, since the front is disconnected). It seems like no 4x4 but with grey wire mod done, but I checked and it doesn't appear to've been done. So I guess whatever electrical issue is causing the 4x4 to fail is misallowing me to use the locker and low range gear.

    I've been looking at wiring diagrams and such, and was planning on diagnosing myself, but I cannot stand tracing wires and testing them in cramped spaces. Plus, there are so many grounds in this system. I will probably end up paying to get it diagnosed soon and, if reasonable, do the repair myself. Either way, I will let you know what the issue ended up being.

    Wasnt toyota offering a recall on frames and lower ball joints? You could always plate it but it doesnt look bad. How long have you owned it? Weird that there is no rust.

    If that's the case then the difference in negligible IMO. Both need reinforcement. I thought with bud built having the extra xmember it would be stronger than skidrow but I guess not. :notsure:

    IMO most of the skids that are sold need reinforcement if you beat the shit out of your truck.

    How often do u guys replace spark plugs? I was doing every 10k but I think that's excessive

    Change them when they have to be. If the electrodes arent worn then regap them. You can go a long time on the exotic metal plugs.

    How far back does the Skid Row transfer case skid go back though? I thought it only covered the transfer case and stopped there.

    I changed mine the 1st time at 81K. Still on the 2nd set. Going through 153K now. It seems like 30K is excessive too.

    I read somewhere that the BB originally designed their belly skid to be able to protect dual t-cases.

    It does but there's almost literally nothing after the t-case till the gas tank? :notsure:

    I'll do thm every time I do my diff fluid...not that expensive...but 10k was getting ridiculous..lol
