Oh... flying it isn't a issue I just labeled it that made since to me. I very rarely look at the controller but it's just a quick reference. Plus since I bought a label maker to mark my tail numbers I got bored and labeled the controller also. Yaw to a fixed wing aircraft I understand. Yaw to this essentially does the same thing in my mind which is why I labeled it that way. I suppose I could have put "strafe / pitch, right / left" but that would have taken up more space.

Kind of hard to spy with mine at ground level. Once it gets up above 20' it's pretty quiet unless it's fighting the wind.

Did some flying on Christmas out in our backyard. The weather was finally nice out and decided to show my step brother my quad. I had been flying it for a little while and didn't notice the herd of deer directly in front of me haha. So I flew over and checked them out. Our deer don't mind much, they walk right up to people. I thought it was pretty cool how fast the buck noticed while the doe's were looking around like "wut?". He even followed as I moved haha. I love the deer here, he's a pretty buff looking buck too. I did look directly at the ground once just to make sure I wasn't directly over one. No deer were harmed. Be sure to watch in HD.

That's one of the main reasons that I bought a drone. We'll be moving to Colorado soon and I've always wanted to be able to get footage that I was never able to get before. We go out to Colorado twice a year and my wife and I were married in Durango. I'm hoping we can work it out to where we move to Durango but that will most likely depend on where my wife can get a job. It will most likely be Colorado Springs since there are more hospitals / clinics in the Springs but maybe we'll get lucky. Even if... I can happily live in the shadow of Pikes Peak the rest of my life. I get to retire when I'm 49.

Oh... I just ordered one of these the other day. Hoping to seamlessly transition shots from ground footage to aerial footage.

For all you drone experts, me a newbie, I would like some advice on which drone to get. I have my eye on the DJI Phantom 3 over the Yuneec Typhoon G, because I believe the DJI to have a longer range than the Yuneec. I have seen the DJI Advance w/2 batteries for $1000 or a Pro w/1 battery for $1000. Which one should I lean towards. All input would be appreciated.

I've owned a couple Phantoms and they are good drones no doubt. DJI is (in my opinion) the leader in drones at the moment unless you build your own. The thing about building your own is you know how everything works because you made it and know what to do when something goes wrong. DJI I must admit doesn't have the greatest reputation for customer service though. When their products work they work great but when something goes wrong it can be a long drawn out process of getting things fixed. I purchased the Inspire 1 V2.0 because of the flexibility it offers. I realize that is over 3 times the price range you are looking at so if I were going to purchase a Phantom it would be this. I believe that is what Lauren is filming with. She could answer your question much better than I.

I'll be getting something other than a DJI this year due to the horrendous customer service they have. They returned my broken camera after two months without fixing it or letting me know. Couldn't be more livid as it'll be many more months before anything gets settled. With that, what other brands may work well? 3DO?

That's my main concern with DJI. That said... The one I have is quality. I may take it out tomorrow and may have a malfunction but that can happen with any brand. If you buy from a company that stands behind the product it makes the repair process much easier which is what I did. Dealing local helps a lot when you have a relationship with the store you buy it from. If you buy from DJI from their website well... you know the deal.

If your primary concern is range, I'd kindly ask you to not buy one.

I have to agree with you on this. I never fly mine out of line of sight. I'm pretty specific about where mine flies. It never goes over or near any person and other than hovering it on my driveway if I fly it at home it's always over the 30 acres of woods we have behind the house in case something were to go wrong. Whenever I take mine out in the field I spend more time deciding on where and how I will set up my shots than the amount of time in the air.

Now... on a side note. I never stop rolling footage once I take off until landing. I can always edit out what I don't want and keep what I do want. But I've had times when I've cut the recording mid flight because (at the time) I didn't like it but afterwards I wish I hadn't because I could have used some of it as a filler or transition scene.

What settings are you using on your camera? I've noticed that youtube also has a tendency to make videos choppy that otherwise look great when viewed on your computer.

    Great video btw
