Hey everyone. Sorry for my lack of knowledge but I was wondering how to tell if I have the TRD package on my 1999 Tacoma.

I have an '01 that has had all the badges removed except the ToyotaTacoma on the front doors. I figured it was a TRD Off Road, but I guess not. Thanks for the info.

Look for the actuator on your rear differential. It's that black piece ot the right of the drive shaft. You should also have a button that says RR Diff Lockimage.jpg

I think you can run your VIN through an online decoder and it will also denote if it's a TRD or not.

Derp I forgot about the shocks. I kept mine all of a day lol. Though didn't realize the wheels were part of a TRD package.

    Is that a question?

Not my picture, but it gives a good enough idea of what the actuator looks like. Doubt the OP has your eagle eyes if they are asking whether or not they bought a TRD

Thanks for all of the responses. I've heard that if my truck has RR diff lock, then it is TRD. Is this true?

yes check your dash to the left of the steering wheel, there should be a pushbutton that says rear diff lock. rear locker-trd, no diff lock no trd.

Did those pics explain anythings? Your truck might come with a RR push button it's does not necessarily that you have a trd lock
Edit: put a jack and lift the rear of your truck with both tires above the ground put on low(L)mode and push the RR botton once get out and hold your tires if both tires spinning at the same time you have the trd lock if you can hold 1 tire and the other tire is spinning you are not a trd, sorry long explanations English is my fourth languages
