I installed a K&N air filter and had a 50 series Flowmaster installed. Sounds great and the tranny finds 5th and 6th gear quicker.

Because the oil off the filter covers the MAF. I love throwing k&n filters in the trash at work

Who told you that? What studies and proof you have on that?

You only put a light mist of oil on the filter. You maybe suck up 4% of what on the filter over a 15k. Any oil is such a small amount will be burned right off in the cylinders.

    REALLY?

    Are on the way!
Had mine on the F-150 for 88k miles, cleaned twice with no issues. I know there idiots out there that don't have any idea how to clean a filter.. If your one of those... Stay with the dealer brand!

A video of the exhaust sound would be most helpful....

As for the k&n, there's several articles, reviews and tests that show they don't filter well and the oil does get onto the maf, requiring more frequent attention. OK for racing (their intended purpose) because of the rebuild intervals.

Regardless, just clean your MAF and yom be OK. If you live in a high dust area, I'd go paper.
