Going off of other peoples' experiences, that's sure what it sounds like. I don't want to drop $3500 on a lift and then be left hanging. If it happened to other people, it could happen to me, and it's just not worth the risk.

I hear 99% positive reviews for icon. And going with King will also only be 0-2" of lift. Just so you don't create a thread bashing king for not giving you 3" of lift

Having to go above Icon's recommended settings creating a rough ride and still not getting 2" of lift and having the new 285/70/17 BFG AT's rub. I've never seen any bad comments about the TC/King setup, and have seen several bad experiences with the Icon's in public posts and private messages to me. I still don't understand why one 2016 Tacoma would be just find and one would have problems. This is all very new to me though and there's a lot to learn. Opinions are like assholes though..everyone has one. If it rubs though, it rubs, and I don't want to have to spend more money after the fact to make things right. Am I wrong here? Would you all drop $3500 on a lift that some people have problems with and just hope it doesn't rub? Or would you go with another proven combo that so far, everybody says works great?

So, I did a OP post search on this thread. He posted the original thread starter crying like a little school girl that lost her Barbie, ditzes Icon big time, and calls us a bunch of douchebags if we don't agree. He says he spent $1200 on a kit. What Icon kit is $1200? He bought coilovers... period. No UCA's, no rear shocks or AAL's. He then trots off over the horizon all butt hurt with his thumb up his ass, lug nuts in his ears, and ignores any input or advice.

May I suggest that we refrain from further comments in this thread, 'cause he ain't fucking listening! Fuck him.

Icons/kings/fox's will give you the same amount of lift. Period. They are basically all the same and use the same springs

So why do some people have rubbing issues and others don't? This is a serious question, not a smart-assed one. I'm trying to learn and understand here.

The main OP states he paid 1200 for the lift. Which means he didn't get UCA's. As a member above with icons stated, after correctly aligning the front suspension and moving the caster forward, the rubbing was eliminated. If I were to be ordering icons, I would call them directly and ask if they think a heavier spring would be best for the '16. Icon JUST updated within the last few days the 2016 and up section. Which means people were ordering the 2015 and up kits that states 0-3" of lift. Are the kits different? No clue. But I'm sure I'll find Out a few months when I'm looking into ordering

    For anyone whos interested:

The following is taken directly from the Icon Instructions:

"The coil springadjuster has been preloaded at the factory to net approximately 2 inches of lift.
However the ride height is adjustable using a spanner wrench. To adjust ride, height raise vehicle off
the ground and support with jack stands; loosen set screwin adjuster ring and turn ring down for more
lift, or up for less lift. Do not exceed 2” of exposed thread between shock top capand
adjuster ring!! Retighten set screw, but do not over tighten or damage to the treads will
occur! Although up to 3.5” of lift is attainable from this coil-over, it is not recommended to
go over 2.5” due to alignment limitation of the stock A-arms. The addition of an
aftermarket A-arm will allow proper alignment at higher lift heights"

I think that the exposed threads as shipped were 1.25" down from the top nut to the adjustment ring. I made four turns on the drivers side to take out some of the lean and IIRC the exposed threads were then 1.625". That netted me 1/2" of lift. I think the common belief is that you get 1/8" lift per turn.

I can't find the instruction sheet that talked about droop. I thought that it was part of the coil over installation, but it's not in the pdf I just downloaded and it's not in the tubular UCA instructions either. I'll have to look at the paper instructions I have at home.

    I hope this helps.

It was originally suggested that I get their Stage 1 lift without the UCA's, and that that setup would have worked just fine...with no rub as well. I'm having the owner of the install company call Icon to talk with them about it first thing on Monday. I may still go with Icon's...I don't know. I'm trusting the installer here at this point because it's their reputation as well as Icon's that are on the line. I'm not comfortable with my brand new $35,000 truck being used as a guinea pig though.

Anyone else wondering why OP is running extended travel arms on stock UCAs... that's not a good plan...

Well considering icon is still testing their '16, I'd wait. And no matter what, you will rub on 285's if you off road, that's why people do the cmc.

    extended coil overs?
It shouldn't matter, same size as regulars, just have 1" extra down travel if I understand it correctly. Extended travel has nothing to do with it. Could be wrong though
