No just being responsible, posting garbage like "I drive on skinny tires in winter" or that "skinny tires are better for winter driving" is irresponsible, and as much stupid as posting how much you were speeding. (and if you ask me it should be treated the same way)

I called "skinny tire better BS" and asked for proof. That simple..

Telling people that you drive on skinny tires in the winter is irresponsible? Prove that wider tires are better. You are about as big a troll I have ever seen.

Exactly what I wanted to do. Put some skinny tires to some test. But boys here run with their tails between their legs.
And yes claiming you driving on skinny tires while you drive on stock tires is irresponsible.

The real fact is that there is always some retard claiming how great skinny tires are, even so nobody is driving on them in winter.
All state Trooper Crown Vics over here are running nice fat winter tires and these guys are running 2wd (RWD) in blizzard conditions. They manage fine, clearly it works. Nobody here in Volunteer Fire Dept is running on skinny tires because they need to get to place in all conditions.
The only people on skinny tires in winter are those wrapped on trees or stuck on their driveways.
And that is the fact. If you think skinny tires are better I hope you find 3 inch skinny tires to run on your truck this winter.

Someone needs to tell these Dakar, Baja 1000 and WRC competitors that they're doing it all wrong.

Yea but they have spikes and.....and stuff. If they ran that irresponsible shit in BlueT's hood he would call the cops because they are so negligent. Then he would drag their dumb asses out of the ditch if they hadn't already killed themselves and a bus load of kids.

You are out of your mind.
What is thinner is skinnier. Ratios have nothing to do with "skinny". 225 can be 2 inches tall, and it will still be skinnier than 245.

Would you rather have a 265-70-16 or a 265-75-16 for winter driving and why? I would choose the 265-75 because it's taller. The aspect ratio makes it favorable for the conditions. Relatively speaking, I would call it the "skinnier" tire of the two. Granted, that small of a difference probably won't matter. But it illustrates my point. If they made a 265-85 that would be even better. Taller yet. Relatively speaking, even "skinnier".

Neither, they are both crap. I'll stick with 245/75. Maybe even down to 235 width.
Relatively speaking, the height difference in those two sizes is negligible.

I'm not trying to feed the bears here. But if wider tires than oem were in fact better than standard or one or two sizes skinnier than oem then why is that snow tires aren't available wider than 265 (exception of a couple 275's out there)?

I think this discussion has gone WAY too far to the EXTREMEs of skinny and wide. Everyone knows a 165 wide 33" tall tire on a truck would be down right dangerous and obviously nobody in their right mind is going to say that 20" wide tire is going to do better in everyday driving in the winter.

I know it's already been brought up multiple times, but you can't argue with racing. They run the tires they run for a reason. They put tons of time and TONS of money into research on how to make things faster, safer and more efficient. I will agree that for "all around" performance oem width that is taller may be the best bet. I say that because at a certain point of skinny and tall your high speed driving is severely affected. But at the same time wider has it's restrictions too, otherwise all of our vehicles would have 285+ widths on anything from a prius to a f350.
