My son thought the same. He installed a leveling kit on his 2012 TX Pro DCSB and really thought I already did the same on my new oneimage.jpg

They're pretty aesthetically level. Very slight rake, even my sport. Love it

I love the locking rear diff. I was able to demonstrate to my son the difference between an open diff and a locked diff easily by climbing a small super steep off camber hillside behind my house. In two wheel drive the brake actuated rear diff worked decent by transferring power to the wheel with the traction (click, cha, click). I stuck it in four high and all four wheels did the same (it could not climb the hill). I backed off the hill and put it in low 4 followed by the locker engagement and it climbed the hill no wheel spin at all and believe me when I say it was steep. I actually had the right front tire 2 feet in the air. It reminded me of my Polaris Razor.

That's pretty good, do you live in the flat lands?

The best I've seen is 19.2 over 200 miles but generally around home here in the hills I'm seeing 16-17 with semi aggressive driving.

Averaging around 19mpg. Pretty happy with only around 600 miles on it so far. Transmission seems to be settling down quite a bit. Maybe it's just me learning how to drive it.

This 16 is definitely higher off the ground than my previous Tacomas. If I was to guess I'd say ground clearance has to be pushing 10".

I've got about 2000 on mine and it does get a little better everyday. That ECT switch definitely allows it to hold the transmission in a lower gear thus keeping the rpm in a little better power range. The 6th gear is pretty useless here unless your going down a hill or a rare level area.

I got 20 MPG on my first tank which was about 300 miles. A little of it was in LA driving, but most of it was on freeways, but there was some slow traffic because of Christmas. Over the last 100 miles of that, I too noticed the transmissions settling down a bit. I'm hoping it's just the engine getting broken in and the computers learning how I drive. All of the downshifting is taking a little getting used to. My other car is a Lexus IS300, which almost never needs to downshift unless I'm really on the gas, but it's also doing nearly 3000 RPMs at 65 MPH, which is right where all of that usable torque is on the 2JZ motor.

I must be driving like a wuss, compared to you guys. I'm averaging 22-24 mpg driving mostly on country roads, with hills and flats, between 45-60mph cruising speeds. I do buy 100% gasoline, though (NO ETHANOL for me :) )

200 and you got 19 only? Hmm. I went on a trip half that the other day and averaged 20 something. Guess Hills vs flat is kind of relative. Maybe I'm more flat land than I think haha

Funny. My car is a 01 GS300 with 195k. Replacing it with the Tacoma as my commuter. Best it ever got was 22mpg on premium so I was hoping to be close to the same on the Taco. I think it is going to be close once it's broken in and no premium gas

This is my best keeping in mind I was babying it the best I could . Saying that, I did go through some of the Allegheny Mountains. Mine is sitting on 16.4 mpg now. I'm wondering how much the off road package is hurting it?

Not trying to start a shit storm, really. I carry like 800 lbs of tools in my truck and it's my daily driver. 2015 OR DC 4x4 and I get, on the average, 18 to 19 mpg with medium driving speeds, 65-75 on the hi ways, stay with traffic in the stop and go wars. I thought the whole idea of the new 3.5 engine was to abide by the new CAFE emission and fuel milage regulations. While I really like the new truck, in this thread, I'm not seeing the numbers that others have claimed, making me think that the new is just barley squeeking by on the milage part of the new regulations. What makes me wonder is, that if the new engine isn't performing up to Toyotas expectations, what will they do for future years to come with this motor? Super charge, turbo?

I do believe the new model does have substantially better fuel mileage on the average. I think the two things that hurt my mileage is my other truck is a Tundra and I just came out of a supercharged Tundra so I might be a little heavy footed to get this little 3.5 up to my performance standards (AKA--->>lead foot).
