Got my 2015 TRD Sport back in Oct and am looking to do some upgrades. Got a LEER topper so far, and will do a 4-6" lift with some big tires. I mainly ride motorcycles to work, so want a good looking, reliable truck to take the dawg wherever he wants to go during our free time. The main reason behind the topper is I fly RC and need it for my bigger planes. I've had tonneaus before and just don't like them much.

Saw the Sic posts by BonsDaGreat about his Fabtech setup (on a Fabtech site, I think) and had to join this forum. Here's a pic of my truck (and the dog) from Christmas morning at Port Canaveral FL.

Welcome. Nice truck. I'd spent time reviewing the build threads and the things sold by TW members.

Now, seriously, unless you own an oil well- run for your life.

    Nice truck.

    1. Check out the cheap/free mods sticky to get you started

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/cheap-free-mods.4838/

    2. I think the ImMrYo mirror bracket is a must and is very good price with nice design.

    3. I have a dog too, and built a carpet covered wooden platform for the back seat so that he doesn't get my seats all dirty when I have a full bed. I can get some pics if you are interested, but basically it's 2 pieces of 4'x2' plywood wrapped in outdoor carpet and held together with 2 hinges. One side sits on the seats and the other covers the back rest part of the seat. I use small bungees around the headrests to keep the back from falling down. It's nice because I can take it out to vacuum and clean and keeps my back seats nice for passengers.

    4. You might consider a bedrug or rubber mat for the bed for when the dog is in the back.

First off, thanks for everyone's welcome replies, and I'll check out the link above for sure. I'm starting to realize that this site has so much information that it's a little overwhelming. That's ok since it's fun to read, and sooner or later my mind will sort it all out. My priority now is a lift, and tires, but in the mean time I already removed all of my decals and am going to paint them gloss black with "Toy TACO on the rear left", and "V6 4x4" on the rear right. Used GooBeGone and a heat gun, but still have some residue glue so need to do some more reading.

Good idea about the rear seat platform, but I don't use my truck for work and just won't bring him along if the bed is full of planes. Replaced the Silverado I had (for financial reasons) with a used Lexus Rx330 (awesome SUV), which after a few trips to the dog park started smelling and had little yellow hairs all over. That's when I realized I needed another truck and will not be putting the mutt in the cab unless there's an emergency. I normally buy American, but my son insisted on a Toyota for reliability and resale reasons.

By the way, bought a rubber mat from Troy Toyota for $87.99 shipped on Ebay and love it. Sucker fit just fine and the dawg loves it.

Thanks again for making me feel welcome.
