    HI,

    I recently purchased a 95 Sr5 (manual) 4x4 with a TRD Supercharger kit.

I am due for an oil change, and would like to know what type of oil should I use.

Also, do I need to change the oil in the supercharer as well. If not when and how will I know when it needs to be changed.

This is my first truck and would like to maintain this truck so it will last for a very long time.

Your feedback would be very appreciated.

    Cheers!

Should I use a 10w 30 Full synthetic grade, and do I need to do an oil change on the supercharger every 3k miles as well?

So basically every 3K miles it's recommended to change both?

I would like to know exactly what type of oil should I use for sure. 10w 30, 5w 30 Full Syntehtic or Non Synthetic etc

I am a rookie to this and I don't want to screw anything up.

    Thank again

Great, and that's full synthetic right?

Also, should I use a certain type of filter as well?

all you need is 5w30 synthetic every 5k miles. and go for wix/baldwim premium filters if not K&N or mobil 1 filters.

not too sure about the supercharger, i just know there's a special oil made for superchargers.

also you may want to look into using an engine flush 5 miles before, or dexron3/mercon atf 100 miles before your oil change. some peeps here swear by the ATF deal, i just cant bring myself to accept it.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
I highly recommend a quality synthetic for any forced induction engine, it just does the job better in that type of application. I recommend sticking to 5w30 or 10w30 if you live in a warmer climate and Pennzoil Platinum or Pennzoil Ultra is my synthetic of choice, I like the natural gas base oil they use and how well it has performed in my 3.4 so far. Platinum is easy to find but just about as good as Ultra with a little less detergents and friction modifiers. Ultra on the other hand is like Amsoil, can't find the stuff anywhere it seems and I don't know why because it's supposed to be their top tier oil but Platinum is readily available everywhere so I just go with that mostly. I used to swear by Mobil 1 to a fault, but after trying the Pennzoil synthetics I will never go back, my engine is quieter, idles smoother, starts easier and just feels way better all around with the oil. I'm very picky about what goes into my engine and pay close attention to how it behaves with what's in it. It used to burn through a half of quart of M1 5w30 every 3000 miles and now I can go an entire oil change without using a drop of oil with the PP 5w30 which is between 5,000-7,500 mile intervals twice a year in the Tacoma.

Wish I had seen this earlier. The original owner got back to me and said he used a 10w30 (FS) Mobile 1. So that's what I ended up using, with a fran ultra synthetic filter.

Good stuff, and thanks a lot. I will definitely give that a shot with my next oil change. What do you think about adding a Lucas oil synthetic treatment afterwards?
