Finally got my Detroit true trac posi installed. Great product and satisfied so far.nice solid unit

Good to hear. I ran one for 3 years in a 450hp 2wd truck and it far surpassed my expectations. I've been interested in on for my taco since I only got a sport. If I remember correctly it recommends different fluid than what the oem does.

You're bending the roller cage on your bearing.

 

Yea factory is 75 80 and they recommend 85 140

 

I know you probably don't encounter snow in SC,but I'm curious on any others members experience with this unit in the snow.

 

Time for a new press, this ones all fucked up.

 

Truetrac is really good for places with snow. It distriutes power smoothly, the only item you have to remember with truetrac is that your truck will keep traction longer so when you loose traction its going to be both wheels at the same time and that could send you to tail spin.
Otherwise it works great.

 

Yeah that press is little iffy. I would be affraid things jumping out and killing people.

 

Is this a full time locker? Or on command?

I am interested in one of these as well. I need a little education on them and how hard they are to install as well.

Is this a big job to install? Or is it better to have a shop do it?

 

Looks like bearing is being pressed on with a cant to it. Hope all works out op.

 

You need to do full install (gear setup) with them. That means if you buy shim/bearing kit you need to get master overhaul (I would suggest getting extra shim kit just to get preload correctly.) So its not easy job but its doable.
