Has anyone removed the dumd little coin tray between the back seats? I want to make more room for my dog on the floor. How about removing the head rests that will never get used? I'm getting an SR5 AC in a couple of months and thinking of asking the dealer to remove these. Thanks!

Dealer prob wont yank the headrests for safety reasons. I yanked mine out of my 2nd gen access cab, they were just always in the way.

I had my dealer take the headrests out before I picked up the truck (no one in it besides me). I have them in storage in case I trade the truck in for a newer model in 3 years. I left the folding seats in mine. They stay folded up so no bog deal. Sorry I cannot help you on the coin tray as you call it. I keep my ice scraper and I'm going to keep a quart of oil in it also (if it fits) Forgot to pick a quart up at Walmart this morning.

I can't speak on the center compartment, but the headrests fold down out of the way.

i removed my headrest's, there is a how to on TW somewhere. i like it much better, better veiw. i left the seats in, just had somebody ride back there. as far as storage, take some plywood and make a platform, cover with carpet.

I just folded mine down because my feeling is the 2 inches left doesn't make any difference visually for me. Then that time I need to put someone in the back I don't have to worry , safety and legally wise.

As for space for you dog why not build a platform to slide in to make things level? That was you can carpet it or whatever. Then you can store some small things underneath said platform like dog related items.

I did both those things. Then added a sub and a platform for the dogs. I love it this way.

Wish you didn't live so far away. I like the top without the middle part for storage.

Thnx, I made it two pieces so I can just flip one side over on top of the other side when someone "has" to sit back there. If its one piece then you have to take it out completely to let a passenger in the back. I think you could split the platform and simply add legs in the middle for both sides to add support. either way its very easy to make.:)

Thanks for the ideas. I like the doggie platform with underneath storage idea.

Why, because the 2nd gen seats folded down? Sure works for some but I prefer the new style for my needs.
