Where did you hear that? I haven't heard Honda using a frame. I'm pretty sure it's going to be another unibody. The vehicle should be on the same platform as the new pilot

I'm also in PA. I'm very happy with mine.

As far as undercoating, I used fluid film. It's been great so far. Take care of the frame and wash it off and you should be fine

It may be nice if it is in fact a truck. I don't like 'Avalanche' style with the lame bed configuration.

I know they made a Baja truck for sema that had a frame but the production was suppose to be unibody. But they did just release a teaser photo and it does kinda look like there is separation between the bed and the body. However if could just be a molding to give it some style or something. Guess we'll know for sure next month

I read one source. But you are right, it appears that the Honda will be a Unibody. I would still look at it as I don't do "truck" things that require a body on frame. I think Honda will hit this one out of the park if they make it look like a pickup and less like an Avalanche. I would love a Pilot type of ride and have a bed as well.

"A fortified version of Honda’s light-truck platform that made its debut in the 2014 Acura MDX. It also underpins Honda’s new Pilot".And St. Cyr confirmed that the 2017 Ridgeline would maintain that unibody construction, which he says was one of the features that made the original truck unique. “Our unibody approach made the truck more comfortable on the road,” he said. The 2017 Ridgeline is being designed in California and will be built in Lincoln, Alabama. - See more at: http://www.equipmentworld.com/honda...tion-model-video-photos/#sthash.sdIFnjl8.dpuf

traded tacomas (13' in for a new 2016). Love it. had no issues with any Toyota I've had. Toyota already has proven themselves against the competition for reliability...hands down. If you buy new, you have the factory warranty to cover yourself if anything comes up (I have never had anything come up with my trucks and wife's Toyotas too)...in addition, Toyotas can sell you an underbody coating protection that gives you even more/extend peace of mind. What are you waiting for? go get one and enjoy! :)

Welcome to the forum! I too have been lurking around for several months and just got the 16 Tacoma last week!
I came from an 06 Jeep TJ.

    1) As for realiability, I think the truck speaks for itself. Toyota is still known for reliability despite the sticking pedal recalls. The older generation Tacomas still hold their value and are still running. From my research and watching videos of the new model, the Atkinson cycle motor is a proven motor in Lexus vehicles.

    2) I'm in the Midwest and vehicles see salt starting November through March. I'm sure frames will start to rust at some point unless you're in the west coast. Like it was mentioned, only time will tell whether the 3rd gen frames will rust or not.

Thanks for the info. These comments just reassured me that the Tacoma is what I'm looking for. Just wish I was buying it sooner than this coming spring!!

With all the posts on here about the troubles with the 16's I think you should wait at least 2 years for the bugs to get worked out.

You almost got me. lol. Not sure my Camry would last 2 more years. I still trust that it won't get me stranded somewhere, but little things are starting to need fixed.

I too am in Pennsylvania. On 12/9 I put a deposit down on a 2016 TRD Sport 4X4 Auto DCSB with Prem/Tech and JBL. I'm trading my 2012 TRD Sport. This will be my 9th Tacoma all purchased new starting in 1999. Never had a problem with any of them and every single one of them has given my almost unbelievable resale value, which is rather obvious since I've ordered my 9th one. I will echo Jeff's sentiments. If you can afford it, go get one. I doubt you will regret it. And just an FYI. I didn't plan on ordering until sometime late Jan/Feb but I got a good deal so I ordered sooner. The time to get what you want, even just to get an order placed, may take longer than one might think. Good Luck and Enjoy!

No. The 2nd gen tundra either has an A750 5-speed auto in the 4.0L version and 4.7L. An AB760 6-speed trans in the 4.6L version. And an AB60 6-speed in the 5.7L.

The Tacoma now has an AC60 6-speed that's in both the 4 and 6 cylinder truck. Its a new transmission. While it's close in number classification, I don't think it's related to the AB60 used in the Tundra, 5.7L Landcruiser and Lexus LX570 V8s.

As far as how rugged it will end up being, who knows.
