I feel your pain man. My Crylser experience had been terrible on a Ram 2500. Thank god it's not owned by me but leased through work for a company I'm leaving soon. I'm not here to insult Jeeps, I've really enjoyed the conversation, but I'm pretty awe struck by the amount of people who think the JK is the most reliable thing out there. Why, if that is the case, do even the local Jeepers give out nervous laughs about trail breakdowns... Anyways, I'm not here to nod my head and agree with every everyone says anyways. I'd love a very nice TJ some day but I don't think I'd wheel it all that hard without swapping out most of the mechanical bits behind the engine/transmission. You look at well built Jeeps, and well they rarely have the same differentials or lockers that they came with from factory. Toyota guys always seem to run Toyota differentials, unless they go all the way to SAS in which case old Ford setups underneath seem to be really popular around here. Must just be my area though...

As for bad dealers, every brand has those. The local Ram dealer is the shits. So is one of the two in the next city over. Too be honest my local Toyota dealer has some terrible sales people and some awesome ones. I know another Toyota dealership that has such a great parts department that they often beat online for me but the vehicle sales department refuses to play ball even when they are confronted with other dealership offers. Ford around here seems to have the best dealerships. Mazda and Mitsubishi are a joke. The Nissan dealer is great though. GM seems to be okay too locally though I haven't bought anything personally from them in years and neither has my family.

Since independent companies own the dealers, not "insert automotive brand name" HQ, the quality of dealer has more to do with their local corporate philosophy than anything else. If the local dealer chains own everything under a certain brand and suck, well, then people foolishly get the idea that the particular brand they deal sucks for customer service which isn't the truth at all. If the local place blows buy somewhere else. They still have to do warranty locally. If they whine and bitch shove the reason in there face. Always fill out the surveys as you feel. When you fail them, it actually does effect how many times they get evaluated by regional management and it could even effect their franchise rights.

    Edits: My grammar sucks today!

That is true. I had a great experience at the one I bought mine from. So much we went back to the same dealership and salesman for my girlfriends RAV4. For years the dealership was hated by locals then they got bought by lithia and really turned it around.

    Same here.

I was always told the local Toyota dealer sucked but in the last 5 years ownership changed and they turned over most of the staff. Now, while I still don't like a few people there, the entire dealership philosophy there feels different. I even wrote a letter over a bad test drive and ended up getting a personal apology from the manager plus a fairly substantial free service package for detailing (they know I offroad and could use the free shines!)

I looked long and hard at an unlimited before I bought my current Tacoma. For the cost I couldn't justify it for what I was getting and I don't have the confidence in a Jeep to last as long as a Tacoma. The resale value is great on them though. The used ones were priced near what the new ones were going for.

Towing capacity(rated) is horrible on them, too.

I forgot about that. Class 2 towing. I can tow way more with my 4cyl Tacoma than I could with my jeep.

Yep. My dash rattles horribly when I'm off road or on a bumpy paved road. It's borderline embarrassing when I have passengers. It's gotten worse with age. I also have creaks in the center console and behind the rear seat on the passenger side. Those come and go depending on the temperature.

I thought long and hard about this very topic. I decided to stick with the Tacoma which gives me excellent resale, much better than average off road ability and is more refined than the Jeep. If I absolutely have to do some serious wheeling I'll break out the Polaris Razor Trail 900!

23 pages of great conversation, and you're the first one to come in here and be a douche. Congrats, 'webernets master'.

Still waiting on that wayalife link.

    Great conversation?

You are attempting to belittle people experience and you are calling people names. Specifically, "Douche."

They are quite large threads. If you have the time to attempt to insult people here I'm sure you can figure out how to use the WAL search function.

Show me where I have called you a name, specifically.

    I'll wait.

Read through this thread. You are the first to come in with such a negative and sarcastic attitude. When you're being a douche, I'm going to call you a douche. You have soured what was a great thread single-handedly.

Still waiting for that wayalife link.

Experience and facts are not negative. They are experience and facts. If you don't want other people's experiences, don't ask for them, or, ignore them entirely.

I'll do you one better. Call this number: 406-721-5000. This is the general number to Lithia Dodge Jeep Chrysler. Ask to speak with Mr. Running who was the service advisor on my 2014 JKUR and ask him about my anvil 2014 JKUR.

If communicating via quote and reply is, "Souring" a thread, then sure, I suppose I soured the thread with fact and experience.

Plenty of facts and experience shared in the 20+ pages before you, and none were as cynical and negative as yours. In fact, we had some great realistic back-and-forth before you got here.

I'm deployed, so I'm not calling your service supervisor. You could just give us a link to your fully documented wayalife thread, and I'll 100% apologize for everything. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong.

The Razor and CanAm are pretty sweet. The last time I was out in the dunes I couldn't help but notice the people running those were having just as much fun but for a lot less money - more economical to flip too. There's plenty of fun bits for them, turbo upgrades, beadlocks...pretty sweet toys.

Only problem with them is the small tires and that you have to haul them to where you want to go. Up here they also suck once things turn cold for the riders. I wouldn't call them a cheap buy. In order to get them trail ready if you are used to full sized power and obstacles you are usually talking about 4-5k in mods. Spending that much on a toy with horrid resale value gets expensive quick. Especially considering those motors run on a fine edge and take a lot of TLC money to keep trail worthy.

Out here people just blast down the highway or on the side of it...sort of.

There's plenty of cold out right now - I've seen a few people with mounted heaters bundled up like Eskimo's. I'm not sure I'd do that too much but if you can see past their goggles and face wrap, they have a pretty big grin.

There is approximately this much snow out:

Facts and experience are not cynical. They are facts and experience. Not liking either does not make them cynical. It simply means that you don't like them, which is fine but it doesn't change anything.

I can't seem to remember my login so you can hop on over to WAL, type in my username (same one) and see for yourself - couldn't be much easier.

Alternatively, you can email the service writer who dealt with one of my (2014) JKUR's: drunning@lithia.com.

There are things that I like more on the Wrangler - the intake inlet for example is at the top of the engine bay and is shaped like a snorkel. For people like myself this is advantageous. The problem is the Wrangler just isn't assembled with as much care as the Tacoma, which effects reliability in a noticeable way.
