2016 3.5V6 Auto, TRD Sport. I am giving some thought to Re-Gearing the truck lower to better handle the lift, wheels and tires. 3.90 gears are stock correct?

Any suggestions for a 92 pound 33/12.50 tire??? I was thinking maybe 4.56. My wheels and tire combo is 92 pounds each. Tires are the lower load rating so they are already lighter than the same tire as an LT.

Any advise on what brand is best or where is best to buy from? Got any solid Vendors here to deal with on Gears?

For re-gear, this is the place most TWer goes to http://eastcoastgearsupply.com/. you could also called them as ask that question since they are the gearhead of gears.

^yeah. They are heavy suckers. Tires are rated to be 50 each. Fuel Beast. 20x9. Rolled one on the scale once mounted and balanced and it's 92 lbs.

Nitto G2's 305/55-20 (33x12.5-20). Looking at the weight differences I would had saved about 10 pounds by going 17". Wasn't worth the savings to me.

so how will you adjust the speedometer to register correctly?
also you have a automatic so how do you coordinate the re gear with the tranny shifting. sounds to me like you are creating a big can of worms especially when the dealer realizes what you did, bye bye warranty.

Wish a manual was available for a DCLB.

As far as I have ever know, the transmission shift points are based upon throttle position and engine rpm.

Speedo is already off since my tires are bigger.

Changing the Gears out on a vehicle isn't really that involved. I think you might be over thinking it KaKaNaBob. Plenty of friends doing it in brand new Jeeps and other brand trucks.

I can't speak to other makes, but 2012 and up Wranglers with the auto trans will go into "limp mode" if you don't use a module or tuner to correct for the gear swap. Shift points jacked up if you don't correct for significantly bigger tires.

I am putting 315 70 17 Dick cepek fun country on mine with a 6"lift next week and also will probably regear when they become available for the 16. A guy at just differentials on the west coast strongly suggested 4.88 when they are available. Wondering what you ended up doing? Also from what I understand, regearing will bring the speedo back close to adjustment, but not positive on that. Mine weigh 96 lbs.

^I have done nothing at this point. Still rilling with stock gearing. I am on the fence about doing anything about it. Truck doesn't run bad as it is. Just wish it didn't rev so high on highway especially when towing trailer. I am sure re-gearing would help, but just haven't pulled the trigger.

Seems to me what I've read is when you regear to a lower gear like a 4.56 or a 4.88 if you go too low, that is when you get the very high rpms at highway speeds. Not sure why you would be having that with the stock gears. You do realize that at 70 on your odometer you are doing about 80 with a 35 tire?

Just now noticed you actually have 33. So you're probably off about 5 miles per hour at 70! How has it affected your mpg?

its 6-7 MPH slow at 70. Just made a trip to Michigan UP. Navigation said 728 miles. truck showed 673.2 miles. That in mind it actually shows the gas milage to be high 7's to mid 8's. However the other truck is an EcoBoost F150. When we stop for gas, they are using about 1.5-2 gallon of gas less per stop. so maybe its realistically getting just over 10, maybe even 11 mpg.

Your nav would be correct. You are definitely going farther than what the odometer says. Hence you are putting more miles on your truck than it is telling you. Keep in mind for oil changes and such! 10 mpg Yikes! I new I would give up some mpg's, but not like that, especially on the highway. Hope gas prices stay down.

The milage is bad when pulling a sled trailer. If I drive the speed limit or just under its really not bad at all. Odometer is 6-7mph off when odometer is reading 70. The truck just revs high at highway speeds with trailer. Spends a lot of time in 3rd gear and some in 4th.

A regear would probably help a lot, especially if you are pulling a trailer often! Just got a response from east coast gear supply, No gears for our trucks quite yet. Last night I get a call from the guy doing my lift. Was ready to put the wheels on and drop her down. They didn't fit over the hubs! Been in my garage waiting for this day since October.

Auto Anything sent me wheels that are for a Chevy! The Nightmare of phone calls began! What a pain. Thanks to the help of a TW member that was there who really knows his stuff, all is well this evening with the correct wheels on there way! Just have to wait another week :(
