In MN that is totally illegal, and you willl lose any court case if you get in an accident and go to court... Also it's not just a ticket, its a misdemeanor.... yall should seriously look into this. Damn im getting old, a few years ago i might have understood, but this is just plain dumb. Get some sunglasses.

I have not waxed the truck since I installed the letters. I'm sure a toothbrush will remove any wax buildup. Heat up the tailgate with a heat gun or park in the sun before applying the letters for better contact.

Question for you guys with lifted 2016 4×4 trucks, has anyone experience front end vibration / noise after the lift? My understanding is that it come from the differential left side needle bearing. Wondering if toyota used the identical front end setup as in the previous years.

What I find "just plain dumb" is that you quoted a member's post from 17 pages ago, who lives in Hawaii.

Debating tint aesthetics is a waste of time, it's purely subjective. Debating function and visibility can be valid. But getting riled up about the law is one of the more annoying angles this conversation takes. If you're scared of getting in twubble, then don't tint your windshield. Don't go over 55mph, don't lower or raise your truck, don't install HIDs unless they came standard, etc..... But please don't assume everyone else is as afraid as you are of the law. If you're going to go through all the trouble of copy/pasting state laws, then please also understand that your state laws only apply to people living in your state with cars registered to your state.

Just sayin is all. It aint about getting in twubble, its about having ZERO standing for any accident you might incur, even if it's not your fault. Your insurance company can reject your claims. Im willing to bet some people on here didnt consider that... and if you're not afraid of that you should be. It's illegal in ALL states to tint the windshield, some say the top 4" is ok and others say you cant touch it.

I'm all for tinting the sides, hell i had 5% and a doctors prescription for 5 years. Now i run 20%.

I live in MD. You're not supposed to tint the windshield, but I did. I have a very light 70%. You can't even tell it's there, but it's tint none the less. Illegal none the less.

So you're saying that I should have actually lost my case last year, when someone drunkenly crashed into me head-on in a parking lot?

Is it just windshield tint that'll negate my standing in court/claims? If I illegally add HIDs to my projector headlights, will that negate my standing? If I run 20% instead of the legal 35%, will that negate my standing? Please help me understand these laws you're describing.

In your state it's illegal. I can run up to 70%here in Hawaii but I chose to go 35 so I can actually see without squinting the whole time I drive. Idk how much sun you get in Minnesota but I live in a sunny state. Sunglasses aren't enough sometimes

No i do not. Are you saying that your light-sensor is pointing out of the windshield? It's probably mounted behind the rear-view-mirror then, correct? If so, it won't be tinted over anyway. You should be fine.

What he's talking about is not your legal fault in an accident but your insurance company's obligation to pay out your claims once they discover illegal modifications have been made to your truck. I used to work with insurance companies a lot, and they will occasionally deny otherwise legit claims for shitty reasons, but I think windshield tint might be a stretch.

I have 55% tint on my windshield and it did not effect the Auto Lights. You are able to adjust the sensitivity if necessary in your settings.

I cant remember if I turned my sensitivity up or down, they were coming on when it wasnt that dark. Would them being more sensitive prevent this from happening? Or less sensitive

Oh absolutely. I think that's a different message than what the other guy is worried about.

In the past ten years and 15 cars... I never run a front plate, I sometimes have windshield tint, and I always (and technically illegally) modify my cars.... I've never been arrested, harassed, imprisoned, or screwed over. Once, just once, I had to pay a $35 front plate ticket. I was happy to pay for it, and told the cop I deserve it, and that I'd rather pay the $35 than make my car look ugly. He accepted, I shook his hand, and went separate ways. I spend 0% of my time worried about the law-man and I don't like it when people push this fear-mentality when it comes to the legality of modifying cars.

The real issue is what these laws are built to do: make driving safe. If you're running 5% windshield tint like this law is designed to prevent... then the issue is you not seeing the road, not that you're breaking the law. If you're running 70% tint and you can see the road, then there's no actual problem here. Just paranoia of getting in trouble with the principal. I blew this clown apart on TW last month for running 10% windshield tint. Not because it's illegal, which is irrelevant, but because it's fucking dangerous. The issue here is visibility. Making it about the law only displays a scared philosophy of life.

Then just don't tint in front of it. Your installer will handle that no problem. With 70% tint you won't tell a difference from the inside or out regardless, even if the sensor wasn't there to block the gap anyway.
