I was wrong

I've used plasti dip before and it's a pain to remove.. Not to mention the mess it creates. I'm waiting to see what aftermarket grill comes out that's why I haven't gone the plasti dip route..

 

Most people seem to like them in person. This phenomenon is not new to new cars but I think it is most relevant with the 2016. I have changed my mind on the styling but that gutless motor will take a while for me to warm up to.

 

Just out of curiosity, why not? From what I've seen it peels right off if you don't like it, so what's there to lose?

 

The motor isn't that bad.. If I warrant the need to have more power I just push the ect button. It took me awhile to get use to it.

 

The gearing is different on the AT, but I honestly don't consider it gutless at all. Compared to my 4.0, the launch on the 3.5 isn't on par, but I've found the performance adequate enough to leave the little girl in me squalling to take my foot off the gas pedal.

But more importantly, is the plastidip really a pain to remove? I don't want to get in over my head here. I've never dipped anything and the youtube vids make it look easy.

 

I personally have had good and bad experiences removing plastidip. From my personal experience if you spray on a heavy coat and don't leave it on that long (couple months) they tend to peel off easy. On the other hand if you didn't spray enough or leave it on for a few months it's really hard to peel off. In that case you would have to spray it with WD40 or goo gone to remove it.

I think that's why there are a number of older guys going through a midlife crisis that get Miata's

Well I'm keeping my grill bone stock and my 3.5 works just fine for me...2genners may not like it but man do they stare at it....
