Id like your honest opinion.. I'm also considering a full size truck a 2016 Silverado 1500 WT with a regular cab 4x2 and 2016 double cab tacoma SR5 4x2. The silverado seems like a better value. Truecar says its around 27,000 and I could get 4.3 L engine that puts out more power than the tacoma and have a bigger bed. I dont really haul people around so I don't really need the extra cab space. Anyone ever considered a silverado?

The difference in horsepower between the 4.3L in the Chevy and 3.5L in the Toyota is 17 horsepower and the Toyota makes 5 more ft/lb torque.

Edit: Disregard I'm retarded. Those specs are the old 4.3L

    Drive them both.
You may find the 1/2 ton is a 'better value' up front but the Tacoma may last you longer, or you may just plain prefer the slightly smaller size when it comes to daily driving. I've owned Tacomas and now a Tundra, the full size (well I have a Lifted 5.7L Crew Max) is certainly harder to drive around the city, but man is it comfy on long drives. The highway miles just disappear in it, very comfortable and capable. I bought the Tundra for its' increased hauling/towing capacity, if I didnt need that I would have stuck with the Tacoma

I didn't know there was anyone who actually liked the sound of a 4.3L.

Sounds like you should be looking at Tacoma access cab instead of a double cab. Cheaper and comes standard with the "long" bed.

Do what fits your needs the best, but if I was going full size I would get the 5.3 liter.

I put the stack in just for you, I may even run the exhaust through it.
Hey now, to be fair I only bite the pillow if she goes in dry.

I think you're gonna be disappointed with a 4.3L equipped Silverado. If you want a full size truck skip the 4.3L and get an engine meant for a fullsize.

When you put a new Tacoma next to a new Silverado or F150, I'm betting there isn't too much difference in physical size. Some, but not much.

You need to determine what you expect from the vehicle 80% of the time, and buy the one that will meet those needs in your range of 'value'. Which shouldn't be out-the-door-what-are-my-payments cost, but an actual shot at TCO, using a realistic estimate of how long you'll keep/use the vehicle.

In my case, a base 5 lug AC 4 cyl. Tacoma met all my needs. What it didn't have that I wanted is being added a bit at a time, and that's not much. Since I view it as a 20 year ride, the TCO was pretty simple.

But the GM/Ford have much more truck like capacity available. So if you want a heftier truck, at least look at a Tundra.

For a full size truck, my money would be on a 2-3 yr old pampered F150.
