The Colorado interior did look cheap, but I think the Canyon SLT has the best interior of all midsize trucks hands down.

agreed....the black leather interior of that SLT is sweet. Tacoma Unlimited really needs to make black leather an option in the near future...I would have gotten that.

If they would have made a black softex interior for the Limited I would have taken it over the brown as well but I still like the brown.

The brown is horrible,I thought the same, why not Black.I had a 2008 for 5 years-50,000 miles, I had Zero (0) issues with that truck. Why do people want to buy a headache , We all have limited time on this planet, why waste it waiting for your truck to be fixed.?

Know em?! Hell, boy, we's cousins.

No not really, those guys are a lot further north than our stomping grounds. We also came to our senses at some point before I was born and decided an education was a better investment in our future.

Dont know you may be lucky than, car wash usually does nothing for underside, they just spray with water but thats it. One near me has jets so weak that I dont think they eaven reach frame (too much clearance on Tacoma ?)
Plus if I had to spend additional $240 a month for car washes on my truck, I rather buy something that does not rust and keep the money.
However, if that worked for you I would continue.. I just dont know if that is what made your truck pass. There are 100's of thousands trucks with bad frame (Every dealerships have a pile of frames at this point) I would think if it was just that easy (wash a car) there would be much fewer failures.

I am trying to get test drive in Diesel Colorado but at this point I dont think one will be available anytime soon. Turns out there is a line for those things, and I suspect US goverment is the one that screwed up ordering for everybody. There must be tons of orders and everybody has to wait. Sales guy at local place said maybe by March there will be one for test drive since all the ones they supposed to get between now and than are ordered and payed for already.
I wonder if setbelt bracket Mike from Toyota wants to say again how there is no demand for small diesel truck.:boink:
Me thinks GM needs second Engine factory and second Colorado factory.

Maybe they are lobbying the government to build one for them?

diesel is cheaper than gas here on the east coast of Canada. I would like a small diesel, but the 5k price hike can buy a lot of gas!!!

Blah blah blah. Why do people who want a Toyota Tacoma expect it to lead in specs? Toyota has maintained their reliability rating by being very conservative with their engines. With a Toyota you get a basic, no-frills engine that is super reliable. With GM you get all the latest unproven technologies and bells and whistles. While the initial chub factor of the GM is high, Toyota tends to hold it's own over time much better. I would rather have a truck last me a long time with little maintenance than have 20 extra horsepower. That is why I prefer Toyota.

Turbo Diesel engines aren't exactly new technology. Also the 2.8 duramax is a global engine and not 100% new to the game.

I've owned a lot of different vehicles, by different manufacturers and if maintained properly, and common sense is used when driven they have all lasted my several 100k. Had an old quad4 Buick that went over 500k before it was sold.

Doesn't matter. Still more more expensive to repair than a normally aspirated gasoline engine. Hence the $4k price increase....

Again, my point is that people shouldn't expect Toyota to be the power/towing/MPG king of any truck segment. Their #1 priority is QDR. The Big 3 are much more willing to have that pissing contest. Toyota doesn't care. That is why the Tundra 5.8l V8 motor hasn't been touched since 2007.

Can you post some pics of the rusted frame on your tacoma? I'm dying to see how bad it's become.

His frame is brand new. He just had it replaced. There are some marks on the welds where the paint didn't stick that have been argued to be rust. We are all waiting for the lab analysis.

As long as you're happy with your engine I guess that's all that matters.

Just so that it's perfectly clear, you can have a class leading engine in power/torque and be extremely reliable. Ie a Cummins 6.7l
I work in the woods for a living and have a co worker with a 2009 tundra, 5.7 I force, both his transmission and engine have been replaced under warranty.

They all break, pick whichever one floats your boat.

My frame just got replaced but it was the same story as for others... If you still want to see problems just google for Toyota hole in the frame .
A lot of reading is in that forum...

You're always quick to link a google image search but I want to see your old frame.
