I've been rocking Toyota trucks with toppers since 1993. I sleep in them and load cargo that doesn't get wet or looked at by parking lot thieves. Every once in a while I have a situation, like loading brush where it's nice to have an open bed, but can't say I've actually needed that badly enough to take my topper off for years.

When I ordered my '14 I ordered a Snugtop (I think it's the Sport Hi-Liner?). I like Snugtop's locking approach. I don't fool myself that the stuff in there is completely safe, but with the tints and the hard to mess with locking I feel like it's a decent solution.

Who makes those lights? Those are great.

Edit: Found 'em! Rigid makes them.

a cap adds another dimension to a pickup. It's covered, lockable, storage that isn't part of the same airspace as the occupants of the cab, like in an SUV. I can't believe "looks" become part of ones decision to add or not add one.

I can say I'm 100% happy with mine, AND my wife bought it while I was deployed so coming back to something like this on the truck was AWESOME!!

As far as the station wagon... If you bird hunt and your dog ever gets skunked you will be thankful for a pickup, topper or not.

Always had toppers since the aluminum ones in the 70's and always will have a topper. Fiberglass toppers with carpet, lights and windoors make them almost luxurious now days. And it is much cheaper than renting a cabin or a hotel room in the long run. A 3" x 6' Cabela's Deluxe Cot Mat fits perfectly in the bed.

Cool setup, but that's not your bed set-up on the lower left is it? I would get seriously claustrophobic with my head up against the piece of wood above. Nice looking dog!

Perspective is off with the night time shot. The wood platform in the front half is only 31" deep, after playing around with different sizes I have found the length of my pants inseam works best. I can sit up upright and change clothes, etc. Some like a platform under them and sleep on top. Over the years I have found a half platform to put my gear up on works better for me due to extra headroom. ARE MX topper for the extra height helps too.

Thanks! Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever. The black nosed Toller in my avatar is 12 and retired from hunting. The pup in the picture from last month just turned one, best hunter so far from the looks of things so far.

I like the utility of having it for camping and hauling stuff that can't get wet. The "inconvienance when moving" idea is actually good for me because I hate helping people move.

And we have another winner! Have to admit have used that a lot myself. Hell I only have one more move left in me and that is for myself. And will pay to have it done.

Also a good reason to have an AC, I'm not a taxi. Finally got the kids out of the house and would prefer to have another rig with me when I get deep in the woods. Just to make sure I even ripped out the back seats, it belongs to the dog. Got to go through him and me to get back there. Not that you'd want to with the hair and mud.

I love my snugtop rebel. After the seat covers and floor liners it was the first big purchase for my truck.

Thanks, white was my first choice, but I'm happy with this color.
