I used the same stuff. Still looks good, but is chipping away where debris from the road hits them.

I should paint mine now that I can't drive anyway. Would give me something to do. It's just so cold outside!

Yea, I'm thinking maybe every few years they'd need repainting, but they definitely look amazing for quite sometime.

The garage, some cardboard, and a plug-in heater looks appealing :p

Don't have a space heater. I'm thinking I might want to spray a coat of clear coat on top of the bedliner to keep it from fading over time, or maybe a coat of satin black

I honestly don't think you'll have to worry about it fading. Look at Brent's truck... I don't know when the last time he painted the fender flares are, but one could easily assume it's been years.

Wouldn't bother. Mine has been painted for over 2 and a half years with no fading.

    Hey man,

I am just starting a build on my Tacoma (2000, black extended cab) and I am taking a lot of inspiration from yours. I love the way your truck looks and I was stoked when I came across it because you have done a lot of stuff that I want to do as well. I am ordering my lift kit and new wheels and tires now and I plan on taking a weekend this month to get it all done.

I was wondering how you trimmed your bumper to fit the 33" mtr's with the 3" lift. Do you have any suggestions or advice? It is going to be a while before I purchase a new custom bumper (if I do at all) so I need the trim to look decent. Sorry if you already answered this.

So if you're talking about the stock Tacoma bumper, I seen people run the stock bumper with 33s and they've been fine maybe work a bit with the inner fender well and pinch weld, but that's it. As for myself, I bought my DIY Relentless Bumpers before my MT/Rs and I haven't seen a need to cut the bumper at all. Your best bet is going to be look some more here on TW and to ask around. If all else fails, then what I would do would be mount your front tires without the coilovers installed and then shove the wheel into the fender, with a floor jack and spin the wheel, turn the steering wheel and see what happens. If you're rubbing anywhere, then trim a little and go from there, but I would still advise that you trim a little less then what you think, I had to trim the inside of my fenders, and knock back the pinch weld to insure they weren't going to rub, but I took off far less then what I though I was going to take off. As for the rear though, 4crawler makes a 2" axle shim that will push your axle back about 3/4" or 1". I went with the OME Dakar leafs so I do rub a bit against the front of the inner fender well, but that shim should do the job.

Bumpers though, look at Relentless Fabrication. Eric has done a phenomenal with taking care of the first gen Tacomas and made some amazing armor. If you know how to weld or have a buddy who does you can get the DIY kits for a great price.

Hope that helps and also... Welcome to TacomaWorld!

Question for you @cbechtold , how did you get the top pvc piece on your washer reservoir to fit between the frame, radiator, and power steering hose? I can't seem to make enough room between it to fit...

    Very carefully... jk

I'm actually touching the frame, the power steering hose, and the air filter box... If I were you, pull your skids off and push the vertical piece through the bottom first then pull up on it until it's level with the air filter box... and probably the fan housing... but that's okay since nothing is absolute danger. After that, then you can mess around with the horizontal piece which you can either put above or below the hose that connects to the radiator. The only thing I recommend is that you probably zip tie the wires/hose for reservoir bump away from the engine belts, they get pretty close and I would hate for something to go wrong.

Haha yeah, I just had to use a bit more pressure to get it to slip between all of them. Now my issue is that there isn't enough room between the bottom pvc piece and my skid plate to fit the washer pump....

Think I'm going to have to get a couple different pvc pieces and just run the single vertical pipe...

My dad suggest the idea to me, but I was hard-headed and wanted it to work a certain way, but you could maybe fit a piece of 4" maybe 5" PVC or ABS pipe down next the battery and have that be where you relocate your reservoir, but you'd need to get 1/8" ID hose for the pump and redo the electrical for the pump as well. It honestly might be the smarter way to do it, but yea... Might even hold more, but I don't remember that sort of math so lel... :p

Yeah, that could work for now. But in the future I want dual batteries, so that would get in the way.

Thanks for helping me figure this out. Guess I'll try again tomorrow... Haha

No problemo... Dual batteries though... I'm honestly thinking that us first gen people might be better relocating the batteries to the bed or under the bed where our spare use to be... Not much room under the hood for us... :(
