I have noticed that alot of newbie's get on here and automatically post their stuff for sale. We have seen over the last two months guys come on here and post stuff that is totally out of the ball park as far as price. Alot of them don't read the rules on selling or buying stuff through the Forum. You have to remind them to post pictures or prices and they most often times get a$$ hurt when you point it out to them.

Some of them post multiple surveys asking the same thing over and over. Most of you know the ones that I am talking about. I know that chris and neontrail know who I am talking about.

The Forum does put that they are new members on their info thingy but I think it would be a great idea if there could be some sort of restriction on them being able to post things for sale or put surveys on the Forum itself. Say they have to be either on the forum for three months or have like 50 posts or something before they could do that.

I know that the MODS spend alot of time correcting these new members and that they most often get blasted for stupid stuff.

Just a suggestion. I know that it has been brought up before but you never know.

    Great Idea!!!!!!

    to add:
I'd also like to see a 100 post count restriction to add "your build" to the build section.

IDK if the other forum I'm on for sportbikes is lazy- but the only way for them to enforce the post minimum in the B/S/T section is for mods to delete threads from folks who don't meet the requirements.

We can leave the thread there and let it a) die beause the person doesn't want to deal or b) run it's course so the person still sells their shit and learns something in the process.

I am on a Mazda 6 sight and it actually forces you to post in one paticular area and restricts where you can post things. Of course it is a pain in the a$% to navigate and they are really anal but they do restrict them.

I agree, to SELL there should be a restriction of some type or filtering to be applied.

Do not restrict anyone from buying.

    But here's my rub:

Forums exist and attract people for the purpose of establishing like minded communities and research. TacomaWorld has been an indespenable resource for me. I often use it to research something that I am going to do, and ask clarifying questions. Sometimes I just like to read what others are doing. I have yet to post a survey, buy or sell anything; although, I constantly check the Buy/Sell/Trade forum for deals.

As with anything else, there are a few bad apples that do abuse the system. But, restrict your users or would be users too heavily and you will loose them or fail to attract them. Without them TacomaWorld becomes a has been forum. I am sure you know of some other Tacoma forums and you would agree with me that there membership is not as complete as TacomaWorld.

So, next time you see a newbie thingy by someones name then just click to navigate away. YOU have the choice to engage or disengage. If it makes you uncomfortable or irritated then maybe you should choose to refrain from reading or participating their posts.

Just my 2 cents from a newbie perspective.

Forums are made to promote discussion and what not- But every time someone starts a new thread instead of using/finding one already created is information and answers get diluted. There are threads here about painting rims, installing suspension, and everything else where folks who are true experts in the topic have posted. Someone posting a new thread every few weeks about the same thing means that first thread gets buried.

This is my beach, locals only!

You sound kinda like an ass, buuuuttttt I agree with you to a point. People should not come in here and take advantage of the sites offerings without giving something in return. That's just bad manners. But at the same time, that's what the site is for, correct? Get involved, meet people with similar tastes, network, get ideas, b/s/t, etc. is what TW was created for? Correct me if I'm wrong.

I thought there were these things called 'Sticky' ?

I remember reading them extensively when I was researching stuff and I put more credibility in them because MODS had to make them a sticky. So I figured if the forum leaders (MODS) thought it was good then it must have been.

    That's now 4 cents from a newbie.

LOL, try not to get too worked up over it.

I can see both sides to this. I really am getting tired of reposting info on what size wheels/tires/lifts work together, and many other beaten down topics. Restricting newbies to posting in the 'new members' section for their 1st post would be nice. And then when they post in there, maybe provide a heads up to use the search and look for sticky's about questions they may have. I personally wont even consider buying something from a member without at least a few dozen posts spaced over a couple months on the forum and im sure many members are the same. If its a local deal then it may be different, but im not going to risk sending $150 via paypal to someone 5 states away with only 2 posts on the forum, others should have this common sense as well.

That is what I was thinking. Yeah! there is no way in heck that I am going to buy something from someone that only has a couple of posts.

If there was an drop down for say "Information/Instructions for our Newest TW Members" it would put the general Forum rules out there. We could include stuff like Buying and Selling, How to post pics, common questions answered, that kind of stuff. I didnt figure out how to post pics for the longest time and there is alot of stuff that I am just now figuring out. Just something to help new members get the general feel of the Forum.

Sorry I am sitting in the Middle of Germany with no vehicle, no TV, and bored out of my mind.

I vote for having to be a member for X certain amount of time before selling and if a post minimum is used I would say a 100 post before selling on B/S/T section. If you use a low number like 30 posts before being able to sell on the B/S/T section, they will just go ahead and start posting useless posts just to get their numbers up.

Like I said earlier maybe just a "Information for the Newbie" they would have to go through it to register maybe or after registering they have to go through it before they can post. What I see alot is they will pop on and want to sell something and then disappear.

Good post.... I bet there is far more people here are more concerned about there post count than Newbies "Trying" to break the rules. A 500 post count means nothing to me, That members post count could have been 400 welcomes and 100 how do you get drunk posts etc Leave it to the Mods to be the judge and jury....
