I really wanted to do either sas or fab up a twin beam setup from like a 1st gen explorer.
Not sure yet which will be smarter...
Not a fan of the torsion bars unless you have a good idea about it. Started a thread on the 4runner section on here but didn't get crazy response except go get a total chaos fab kit

I run a stock setup so I'm not the person to ask unfortunately. Ive heard some nice things about the Blazeland Long travel setup though

Took it to Gorman with no issues as far as capability but just sucks with the 3.0 being slow as it is...
Couple that with worn out shocks and torsion bars and whoops were not its friend lol

Guess I could stop whining but I just don't like holding up everyone else on the trails so I bring up the rear... Hence why it is dubbed the 4Walker lol.

Personally I don't mind the 3.0 that much. It's always gotten me where I want it to and done it pretty fast. If anything I wish it would do it with a little less tire spin sometimes lol. My only real dislike with the engine though is the head gasket problem which is the only reason I'm not using it now :frusty:

Trust me I'm waiting for that... Heard horror stories but also some people get lucky and never have one go... I have about 200K on it so I'm assuming it has already been warranty/ recall repaired

There's a few websites where you can look it up. Honestly if you take care of the engine it won't happen for a long time. I think mine would've have blown if I hadn't tried to drive the thing in the middle of the day in the summer to phoenix. I'm pretty sure that is what killed it :/

@Dangerousd1987 @ODNAREM Sooo after that feedback are you two still planning on going or maybe doing a different trail? As much as I would like to join you guys, personally I don't think my 4Banger would be able to do it with the ice and snow up there.

@CAHAWKR and I did an intense double diamond trail a weekend or so ago.. It was ice roads with lots of ruts and water.

We are going back to see it in the day time on the 3rd. All are welcome, even you @ODNAREM :) maybe shmelly will come too @Shmellmopwho

Last I heard, it was closed. You can check out the forest service website, that will tell you, or you could just call them up. If it is closed, you can get up there from the Ortega hwy side. Takes a little longer, but still an awesome ride. Again, you could just call up the ranger to find out if that gate is closed or not.
